Ladder-mounted bicycle rack August 26, 2005, 01:17:40 am Yahoo Message Number: 57303We carried our tandem bicycle thousands of miles on the ladder of our old 5th-wheel with no problems. The shape of the rear of the LD may prohibit the use of the ladder mount, but if it does not, is there a strength issue with the ladder and a 40 pound bicycle? Has any one had any experience with this? Gary and Lenore 23.5 F.L. Del. expected in Sept.

The torque exerted by the weight of the bikes slowly forced the ladder into a "S" shape. Our LD ladder may be stronger but I doubt it. I expect the ladder can handle the dead weight of the rack and bikes or me but that the high torque loads caused by traveling over lovely I 10 and elsewhere finally did the damage. FWIW Jack
