general stuff and Andy's updated rig

Greetings from the Windmill Campground in the sunshine state of South Dakota,
Wow, we enjoyed learning more of the LD history with truck camper pictures, wonder how many of those are still around somewhere?
Andy on your new pictures in the shower, what is between your hanging laundry hamper and the piece that looks like it cleans windshields?  It is somewhat round.
What are the other things on the wall near the sink, 2 towel bars..are they held with adhesive?  toothbrush, kleenex, do you leave it there all the time and it doesn't get wet?  What is the piece about 3" long on the left side?  What is under the sink?
We have asked for the Superlock at 9 Radio Shacks now, some franchise stores and some company stores and no one has ever heard of it.  3 have sent us to Sams to get Velcro.  We tell them you told us it is super velcro...maybe we have the problem because we don't bring in Andy on a stick. when we ask.

Happy travels.

That's a small mesh bag that originally contained cherry tomatoes on the vine, but now holds my handmade soaps. They're shrink-wrapped, so they can't get wet. A nice side effect of having them there is that they lend a pleasant aroma to the bathroom. :-)

(We're talking about http://www.andybaird.com/travels/gertie/g-bath3.jpg>, for those who want to follow along at home. ;-) The bars holding the hand towels are actually toilet paper holders. ;-) The top portion of each is screwed to the wall; the arm and the lower bar pivot up and down freely. The upper portion is screwed to the wall.

"What is the piece about 3" long on the left side?"
That's a Chapstick (or equivalent) in a Grip-It holder, mounted with adhesive. See the "Improving Gertie" section of my site for details on this and other gadgets mentioned here.
"...toothbrush, kleenex, do you leave it there all the time and it doesn't get wet?"
Let's start at the top, just below the showerhead. There's a yellow clock--a cheapie travel clock that I found for $2.99 in a local supermarket. It's mounted with Superlock. Because its protective cover is translucent, I leave it closed all et time and don't worry about it getting wet. Below that is a Q-Tip dispenser, screwed in place.
Then there's a "Pop-A-Tissue" Kleenex holder from Camping World. (I say Kleenex because it won't fit Scotties or other brands with non-square boxes.) It's also mounted with screws.
I remove the Kleenex box before showering...along with the "Portable Buddy" heater on the outside wall (slips onto a pair of screws when traveling), the laundry bag and the wastebasket under the sink (not visible in the photo; held in place by a frame made of coathanger wire, Mother Nature's Miracle Substance and one of my favorite raw materials for Gertie improvements).

Ask for part number 64-2360 (black) or 64-2363 (clear). They'll be able to look those up in their computers. Or go to www.radioshack.com and search on 'superlock'; that'll turn up both versions. There are links to that product page and two other sources on my Superlock/Dual Lock page (http://www.andybaird.com/travels/gertie/superlock.htm>).
"maybe we have the problem because we don't bring in Andy on a stick when we ask."

Ah, yes...that never hurts! ;-)
