Auburn, California area dry camping August 08, 2005, 06:39:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 56613Did you manage to hook-up with Gini(?). The area between Auburn and Grass Valley is great, and I expect you'll really enjoy it.If you still need another suggestion for a place to stay I'd suggest Sugar Pine Reservoir which has my vote for nicest USFS campgrounds and setting anywhere within a 25-mile radius of Auburn. It's a bit out of the way you leave Auburn and go over the high bridge to Foresthill, and then another 8 or 10 miles into the boonies. But, once there you're in one of the prettiest spots you'll ever see. The Forest Service's rec site has directions and details.Sugar Pine is set amidst old growth Ponderosa on the shore of a pristine lake. (really a reservoir, but why quibble) The best part is that it's very lightly used, and you should have a number of campsites to choose from any weekend of the summer. At least that was always the case for the several years I lived a few miles down the road from the lake. The ranger station in Auburn or Foresthill can provide current details.Have fun!Rick Lewis kindawannabe__ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

If nothing else, we are hoping for the Elks Lodge in Nevada City as they have hook ups. We have to be close enough into town for our Driving Instructor to come and meet us. Our main reason for staying in the area is the driving lessons.Again, Thanks for the suggestion thoughKate (TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!!)
