The Bed July 25, 2005, 03:55:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 56107We own a 1988 22' LD with the living area in the back. The bed which is made out of the sofa is very uncomfortable. Just wondering if anyone has changed this set-up to make the bed more comfortable. When you pull it out the cushions next to the wall always seem to be lower then the rest of the bed. Any helpful ideas would be welcome. Thanks alot, Karen

Thanks alot, Karen If, by the 'cushions next to the wall' you meean the cushions from the back of the couch, it is likely someone has replaced the foam in the seat bottoms, but not the back. The bottom foam wears out first, since it bears the full weight of bodies during non-sleep time, as a couch. In our FL, I definitely would feel the effects of ME bottoming out the foam after sitting through half a movie or reading a few chapters in a novel, e.g. We then only replaced the seat bottom foam (and chose something firmish), since ours is used almost exclusively as a couch, or bed for a single guest.Steve
Re: The Bed Reply #2 – July 26, 2005, 09:37:42 am Yahoo Message Number: 56121Karen, We have an `83 front lounge LD and because of limited agility must sleep on the sofa. It was a great sofa, contoured to fit your bottom, but a poor bed. We are lucky to have a good foam shop in the area, Fremont, CA so we had new cushions made with two layers of foam. A softer foam on top and a firmer bottom layer, a big improvement as a bed, but not as nice as a sofa. We used the fabric from the cab over mattress to cover the new cushions so everything still matches. If you want more information fell free to Email. Good luck. Gene
