Tires on Lynx leveler blocks February 13, 2005, 07:30:13 pm Yahoo Message Number: 50740Trivia Abounds. Are our LD tires going to be hurt by setting on Lynx leveler blocks? Who knows? Does anyone believe it makes the tire last longer? When I showed a Lynx block to a Michelin rep at one of the RV conventions, I also showed him a plywood 'cross' I cut out to fit between the round block (heads). [No adverse comments, please.]Essentially, he said not to leave home without them. I think he mumbled as I departed that anyone who parked a tire on four round rocks needed to keep both hands on the wheel. Most of the time, however, the fabric bags of Lynx levelers sit in the forward RH stowage compartment of our MB, nestled alongside that partitioned wine storage case. When we need to level, we use the pair of wood ramps made from 2x10 fir. They are in three height sections with one end beveled and the other with a stop block. They are sized to fit into the lower RH stowage compartment, along with a portable barbeque and a (blush) hemp floormat that sits on top of the leveling blocks. Also, should note that I gave the leveling ramps a coat of wood waterproofing sealer before using them. Here in Washington, it helps them float.(If it don't say 'Resort', we don't camp there.) I hope you don't get mixed up and grab the wrong one; all that coach weight can be pretty hard on one's "cellar"! ;-)Joan
Re: Tires on Lynx leveler blocks Reply #2 – February 13, 2005, 10:06:50 pm Yahoo Message Number: 50747hi- the big bumps on the lynx levelers bothered me also. so i took some scrap quater inch plywood and cut 4 matching holes to fit over the bumps. has worked well so far. The 'swiss cheese" (about a foot square) havent broken after several uses. i would love to have fiama levelers tho-cannt see why camping world keeps selling the two narrow ones. marta
