A regular cell phone and USB cable will work as well. You do need a PC card if you want broadband (EVDO) today, but EVDO phones are rumored to be coming soon.Art
Re: verizon service Reply #2 – February 06, 2005, 03:21:57 pm Yahoo Message Number: 50452One combination that works for me and several other Mac-loving RVers I know is Motorola's T730 flip phone, plus Motorola's USB data cable #98571/SKN6311. (I strongly recommend buying the cable directly from Motorola; third-party cables have proven unreliable.) This setup works very well for connecting to the internet, and the T730 is an excellent cell phone by itself. The phone also stores addresses and calendars entered in the Mac's Address Book and iCal programs, updating automatically via Apple's iSync utility. This means you don't have to jump through hoops trying to store favorite numbers via the phone's keypad. (Mind, this is not the only phone you can do this this with--but it's the one that I use and can recommend it from firsthand experience.) I also recommend buying a copy of Smith Micro's QuickLink Mobile software for your Mac. Although not strictly necessary, QuickLink Mobile makes cell phone setup extremely easy and lets you quickly switch from cell phone to built-in modem to AirPort (WiFi) connections. It's well worth the modest $30 price.Andy Baird
