Web Site Listing Free Wi-Fi Access
Yahoo Message Number: 49843
I look at "free" Wi-Fi access at RV parks, including state CGs that have site fees, as one of the basic recreation/facility offerings that should be included in the fee structure.  How many campgrounds have you visited that charge extra to use the swimming pool, or recreation room?  Do you actually USE the swimming pool or rec room at campgrounds?  Even if you choose not to, campground and RV park owners feel the pressure to provide these amenities, and not charge separate fees for them.  We DO pay for them, but not separately, as they are included in the site fees.  Many RV parks that offer cable TV connections are now including them in their fee structure, rather than offering it as a separate charge.  I feel that internet access, whether through a dial-up link, a cable connection, or Wi-Fi should be "free".

Those of us who like to boondock, rather than using developed CGs, don't expect to find free or pay-per-use in the outback, but usually have our own method of connecting to the Internet while parked.
While traveling, I always try to find free Wi-Fi access points (and I don't mean "wardriving")at places like Panera's, Internet cafes, and libraries.  I have used pay-per-use Wi-Fi access, but my limit is $5 per 24 hour period.

I know my opinion is only one point of view, and I understand the entrepreneurs are trying to make a buck while they can, but I think their days are limited.

For those interested, there is a good free Wi-Fi access list at:

Be sure to read their FAQs page.
