Where did you guys camp while visiting Mt. Ranier? We NEVER make reservations, (probably because we don't want to be tied to schedule) and when we got the Mt. Ranier area, it was booked solid.

 We rarely make reservations, either...and didn't when we stayed at Mt.
Rainier.  We stayed at Cougar Rock Campground ON Labor Day.  There were lots of empty spaces and it looked like that campground also had lots of spaces long enough for your 26.5'.

 Yes, IF the Casino has free RV parking -- not a campground.  We've stayed at the Mills Casino in North Bend, OR, Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, OR, and the Quinault Beach Resort & Casino in Ocean Shores, WA.  We don't gamble, but usually have at least one meal at the casinos.

Barbara, Linda's journal (and photos that speak) is indeed a fantastic re-telling of their adventures and sure brought Alaska alive again for me.  You might also be interested in the mysteries by Dana Stabenow.
She's written 12 or 13 stories centered on the adventures of an Alaska Native, Kate Shugak.  The stores, like those of  Tony Hillerman, are infused with the history, culture, politics, traditions and the landscape of Alaska.

And, of course, someone has already told you that the "Milepost" is indispensable?

Lorna, can never get enough of Alaska!

 OMG!!! Now I'm not sure I even need to go to Alaksa.  What a story and pictures!  Truly, it was so well written and documented with pictures that it seems we've "seen it all" - and didn't need to drive through the snow and rain!  Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
