Thanks, Andy.  I've spent the better part of the afternoon reading the posts -- makes for entertaining reading!
The first time I saw anyone ask Charles "drop a dime" Herbert about mileage was at message 20110, which he *answers* as message 20203...and we're off to the races!

Sorry guys, I was off line for the afternoon. I hope you read that thread all the way to around 20360-20400. At one point he wrote each of us combatants a nasty note. I hope you did enjoy the whole thing.

As an aside, I have really enjoyed your posts over the years. You guys always make good common sense. You really sealed the deal with your post about using paper maps!:)
And just think, the next time you're tracking down one of those Lazy Dazies passing through your area, it could be good old Chuckie High Miles!

Hey Linda & Earl,
Sorry about the confusion. I'm home in Ohio, not in Quartzite. When I made the above post; I was in a hurry and used the "delete" feature only on what was on my screen at the time. Somehow I left your tag line of "From Quartzite, AZ" attached to my message. Right after I saw it, I thought you might be on the prowl looking for a silver LD with Ohio plates. Alas, we are stuck in Ohio until the end of April.
All of my RVing is in my dreams for now. We almost crossed paths with you last fall though. We ended up in the Pacific NW about the same time you folks were up that way. We did see one LD parked near the big "Swap Meet" in Packwood, Wa.; what a scene that event is!

We weren't in Packwood, but we weren't too far away -- we spent some time at Mt. Rainier National Park and then took US-12 to Yakima.
If you get back to the PNW again this summer, let us know -- we'll be traveling in Oregon for 3 months and then camp hosting at a small BLM campground in northern California for the remaining 3 months.

Where in Northern California is this small BLM campground? I gather you'll be there sometime in the Fall. We're always looking for a place to go-especially in the Fall. Mary in foggy No CA :>(

Hi again, Linda & Earl (btw, is it always the same one of your dynamic duo who posts, or do you alternate? ;-)

Where did you guys camp while visiting Mt. Ranier? We NEVER make reservations, (probably because we don't want to be tied to schedule) and when we got the Mt. Ranier area, it was booked solid. It was right before Labor day, so we probably should have known better. But we did drive into a couple of the NP campgrounds, and I don't know if I could have gotten our 26.5 into very many of the sites. It was bad enough just trying to drive through the campgrounds.
This reminds me, do you guys "Casino Camp"? We did that near Mt. St.
Helens and also on the ocean on our way up to Olympia.

Our really big journey this year will be Alaska and the Canadian Rockies so don't hold a spot for us in Northern Ca.!

Hi Steve ---
Archive Art (I couldn't resist...I'm very proud of his efforts!) and I are also heading up to Alaska and the Candian Rockies this summer with some LD friends.  Do you know your itinerary yet? It would be fun to cross paths!

Hi Barbara (& Art!)
You should be proud of his efforts! That searchable site has made our body of work usable and much more valuable.
As far as an Alaskan itinerary, the planner in house will let me know that on a "need to know" basis! ;-) She tells me that we will probably be leaving for "points northwest" by late mid to late July.
We have been to Alaska a few times on "fly & drive" trips. Two of those trips were in early September, the weather (for the most part) and scenery were spectacular then. During our first trip, while waiting to board the ferry boat at Valdez, a caravan of Winnebaggo's was waiting to board ahead of us. Talking to them way back then, (I don't even remember if it was the 70's or 80's)planted the seed for making this trek in an RV.

When are you guys leaving? And how long do you plan to spend "up north"?
