'Lucy's heater blows cold

I'm not sure what brand heater a 1984 LD used. My old (1980) SOB had a Duotherm heater without an electric igniter. You did have to relight the pilot each time you turned on the propane. (No- I didn't turn it off at gas stations.) There was a metal framed quartz window about one inch in diameter that had to be removed each time, so a lit match could light the pilot. Later I installed a 9v battery powered igniter that I could turn on and off manually, so I didn't have to remove the window. Instructions for lighting were on the inside of the removable front cover. For a Dometic Duotherm, just pull the front cover toward you. I'd hate to see you spend a lot of money, to have a service person light the pilot for you!    Ron and Bluebelle in soggy San Diego.

That was basically my suggestion as well. We also have the 1980 unit, and do have to light the pilot with a match. It almost always works the first time we try, but fpr folks used to a more modern unit, the idea of a no-always-on pilot light probably seems pretty strange and they might  not even think to try and light it.
If they can't figure it out, or the pilot won't stay lit, or there's a breakdown in communication between the thermostat and the heating unit, of course it's time to see a service person. But start with the simple stuff first.
