We took our LD to RV Lifestyles this morning to have a new controller put in the electric step (which had quit working).  Returning to pick it up, we saw a teal 26.5' RB in one of the service bays.  I tracked down the owner, who was waiting inside the store with her Sheltie.  Her name is Bonnie, and she's a single fulltimer (I believe she said she'd been fulltiming for about 6 years).  She's an Escapee with a Rainbow Drive address.  She doesn't travel with a computer (!), so doesn't frequent this site.  Earl and I had a nice conversation with her.

Waving arms wildly . . . Judie takes credit for Bonnie.  She was almost ready to buy (GASP) an SOB (Born Free), when I got ahold of her.  She is from New Bern, North Carolina, if I am remembering correctly waaaaaay back to 1997, when I first started corresponding with her, but was living in an historic district of Virginia when she started fulltiming.  She picked up her rig in 1998, and one of her first stops was to see us here in Sierra Vista in October of that year.

Baba, the Sheltie, she was a recent rescue, so they were just getting into the swing of traveling with each other.  Glad to hear they are still together, assuming it is the same puppy.  She had just lost a beloved Becky, the Sheltie, when Baba popped into her life.

Last heard from her 4/23/01, from Buellton, where there were, for some reason, 13 other Lazy Daze units. As you point out, no computer, so I pretty much lost contact with her.  Will tickle her last known PocketMail address to see if she is still there.  I'm surprised she is still fulltiming.  I thought she would tire of it.

Small world!  ;->

Judie, sorta suggests some accuracy in the "6 degrees of separation" premise, huh?  If you're successful in contacting Bonnie, would you mind giving her the site address for the LaDeze?  I'm sure there are lots of us who would love to meet her and tap into her knowledge and experiences.  Ditto to you Linda and Earl, if you see her again.  (BTW, sounds like you're having a ball in Q!)

I don't remember the dog's name, or even if Bonnie mentioned it, but it is an older female Sheltie and is now deaf.  I imagine it is the same dog that you met.

Bonnie did mention that she just uses Pocketmail to correspond with people.

She seems to be having a good time...and she certainly loves her LD!

We didn't have a lot of time to talk to Bonnie, so didn't get into a lot of detail, but she did say she doesn't travel with a computer.  She didn't mention if she uses libraries, or other resources to get online occasionally.  Of course, I didn't even think of telling her about the March LaDeze GTG in Parker!  Hopefully, Judie will have success contacting her, and can let her know about it.  I doubt we'll see her again, as she said she was boondocking somewhere around Brenda with some friends.
Yes, we're having fun in Q!  We always enjoy the goings-on here, even though the traffic can be a bit of a bear sometimes.
The town is in the process of widening Main Street (Business-10) to 4 lanes -- this year the portion from Exit 19 to Tyson Wash will be completed, and then next year (or whenever), the remainder will be done, and the overpass at Exit 17 will be made 4 lanes just like Exit 19 is now.  So traffic is even more of a mess -- particularly traveling west on Main Street east of the US-/SR-95 intersection.  They've temporarily done away with the left-hand turn lane going west-bound, so traffic really gets backed up there.
SOOOOOO....if you are coming to Quartzsite, and use Exit 19, I would recommend heading south and traveling the south frontage road (Kuehn Street) rather than heading north and trying to travel west on Main Street).

Judie,

Save me.  Why a LD rather than a Born Free?  I have been monitoring the forum for a while.  I have looked at the archives and hope I am not starting a really long thread but help convince me that a LD is the only way to go.  My Uncle sure thinks so having been a LD owner for over 20 years.  After monitoring both forums for a while LD is winning.

When we were staying in Point Campground on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, there was another LD in the campground...a '92 tan RB owned by the Delfantis.  They are not on this list, and even though they are original owners, they aren't part of the Caravan Club.  I told them about the Golden Caravan GTG next year, but they weren't interested in that, either...they just aren't *joiners.*  They were, however, a very nice couple, and we enjoyed talking with them.

Spotted a mid-size (26') newer brown LD going north on Grand Av. in Surprise AZ north of Bell Road around 8:30am - little while later it was going the other way.

Anyone from the group? ? ? ?

By the way - Big O Tires on Bell just east of Grand has been GREAT with servicing BLUE!

On the way up US395 to the Reno Air Races in Stead, I passed a relatively new Teal LD, possibly 30' near the Reno airport.  Today was mostly a demo and time trials day.  Tomorrow we fly to Philadelphia for a wedding near Harrisburg.  Nice day in Reno, alt sun and shade.
Tomorrow it is supposed to cool and blow.  Jack
