Info RE LD Caravan Club - suggestion to Andy Reply #25 – January 05, 2005, 08:10:37 am Yahoo Message Number: 48700ANDY, perhaps the historical information below from Rosemary could be incorporated into a FAQ and put in that file. The question of "why original owners only" seems to come up on a regular basis.ChrisQuoteAndy, Thanks so much for your anwsers to the question regarding the So Cal LD Club. We just returned from the DVD gathering and have been catching up on the messages. FYI - The factory provides very little financial support to the club. Mainly the cost of mailing the newsletter and other small printing cost. The club is no longer "sponsopred" by the factory as we are self supporting. I do receive tremendous moral support from Ed, Steve and all the rest of the staff at the factory, they are behind me 100% and a wonderful bunch to be associated with. Paul Newton, 48 years ago was the founder of the club and the very first Wagon Master. He set down back then that only orginal owers could become members - although way back then all were original owners! The club grew to the size where they averaged 250-300 rigs per campout. Finding places to put that many rigs 9 times a year was a huge task. Now we average about 125-160 per campout and more owners are wanting more conveniences than dry camping as it was entirely in the past. So finding sites with hook-ups to accommodate that many is again a huge problem. For that reason and out of love and respect for Paul, as long as I have the responsiblity as Wagon Master, we will hold true to his vision. QuoteWe would love to have all Lazy Dazers join us but the numbers are just not manageable on a monthly basis. That is one big reason why I have come up with the Clubs 50th Anniversary Caravan where every Lazy Daze owner can come together to share our love for the finest Class "C" motorhome made. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to inform you as to the whys and wherefores. Hope this filled in the blanks.Rosemary Webb Wagon Master So Cal Lazy Daze Caravan ClubPS We all had a wnderful time in spite of the history making weather. It was awsome to see the valley in a much different condition then we're used to. All 28 rigs returned home safe and sound. Looking forward to next year!Andy Baird" wrote:"Why does the factory provide financial support to this Caravan?"I don't suppose it'd be very helpful to say "Because it's the factory-sponsored Caravan Club." ;-) But that's about the size of it. This is an amenity that Lazy Daze provides to original owners, presumably in order to foster camaraderie and brand loyalty."...and in which way?"I don't know the details, but perhaps somebody who's in the Caravan

Re: [Life With A Lazy Daze RV] Re: Caravan GTG at LaPaz County Park Reply #27 – February 15, 2005, 11:17:51 am Yahoo Message Number: 50790Is anyone from the group planning to attend the LD caravan 2/23 thru 2/27?Earl and I are planning on being there. I did have a question, though, and this post reminded me of it: when the dates are listed in the Caravan Newsletter as "Feb 23-27," does that mean it actually lasts for 5 nights, leaving on the 28th, or is it for 4 nights leaving on the 27th? It's not clear from the way it's written whether the "-" means "thru" or "to."Linda & Earl 2004 23.5' Red TK From Quartzsite, AZ

Usually by noon on Sun. virtually everyone has gone. Of course no one is obligated to be at the Caravan for all of the days. You only pay for the nights you are actually there.Art
Re: Caravan GTG at LaPaz County Park Reply #29 – February 15, 2005, 11:37:15 am Yahoo Message Number: 50795I'm not sure, but I think the last *night* is the 26th, people leave on the *27th*. That's my vague recollection from the couple of caravans I attended three years ago. (Makes sense, since many club members still w-rk, and this gets them home so they can go to w-rk on Monday.) The Caravan Club web site is not clear on this. /noel/P.S. Sorry about the four-letter words!
