I plan on installing a catalytic heater after I pick up  my new mid- bath in January.  Is there anyone here who has a catalytic heater installed?  Where did you put it?

Jo,

I have a Wave 3 and "Yonder" a new MB. The two have not yet come together, but here's my thinking so far (g).

The Wave 3 has its gas input fitting on the side near the lower bottom. Fortunately, the unit can be surface mounted either upright or on one side (with the gas fitting facing down) - - this is a good thing, 'cause it also puts the controls at what will now be the top.

So situated, the Wave 3 would fit nicely under the dinette on the right sidewall. It would also fit on the opposite cabinet lower wall between the sink and stove. However, it would be more likely to be kicked in this spot.
The Wave 3 doesn't have a recessed (semi-flush) mount kit available, the larger Wave models do. I don't consider this a major disadvantage, as the smaller Wave 3 can still fit in more places.

One drawback to the under dinette location, is we typically leave the dinette as a bed for the dogs in the evening, and in that configuration, I think the table top would be too close and suffer heat damage.

I'm also interested in what others have done with the MB and Wave 3 permanent install. I'd rather not go with a portable installation usng a quick-disconnect.

BTW, saw an older LD (think it was anyway, the side trim was right, but the windows were smaller and not dark) starting up Kingsbury Grade, leaving the Carson Valley towards South Lake Tahoe, a couple of days ago - - anyone we know?

Hi all, I have my Wave 3 but not yet installed and I don't know where to put it.  CW said it had to be 36" away from flammable objects, how do you do that in an RV?  I'd like to put in on the door to the underside of the dinette seat, to swing out in use, but is this too close to couches?  Andy?  Anyone? Thanx, SC

Jo I am picking up my 2005 LD in a couple of weeks. I plan to install a cat heater with a long flexible hose which means it can be moved to wherever I want heat.

Our 94 MB may differ from the more recent models but our heater is mounted on a right side hinge in a recess just under the oven. It swings out when in use and tucks back when not.  Works for us.

Anne,

Great idea, thank you! I imagine it's hinged on the left side (side toward rear of coach), so it'll swing out and face aft? Also, that means you probably have a rubber flex hose to allow it to swing? I may have to copy you on this.
