Nice things to do/stay on the way to Vegas? December 26, 2004, 07:20:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 48344Hi All, We are taking a leisurely trip to Las Vegas in a week and a half and are looking for neat things to do and places to stay on the way and way back from the S.F. bay area. Ideally we would like to find areas with local interest, good restaurants, places to hike or bike and places to stay for 1-2 days. We can vary our route subject to the weather. We have been told that Red Rock Canyon is nice. Any other ideas would be appreciated.thanks!Mike S. 2003 26.5 MB

Mike, Valley of Fire SP, NorthEast of Las Vegas, is a fun place to camp, hike, explore -- you can snuggle right into some lovely rock amphitheaters, surrounded by beautiful beehive and red rock formations and feel like you're in a Western movie hiding out from the bad guys! A very different style of campground -- it's hilly. Best to find your spot in daylight hours though -- that feathery looking stuff isn't ... and can leave some dastardly scratches on that shiny red LD of yours. Are "WE" by any chance, also going to be stopping by one of those cute Las Vegas wedding chapels? Are congratulations in order? Inquiring minds want to know, you rascal you!!Lorna, in Santa Cruz where they certainly do need the rain!

Another great area is Valley of Fire State Park east of Las Vegas off I-15. Beautiful area!Linda & Earl 2004 23.5' Red TK From Quartzsite, AZ

I scold anyone who passes through the area but doesn't stop there.
