I see the option to view the Yahoo messages in RSS. What is the advantage or what does it do?

Chris,

Yahoo says, "What is RSS? RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for distributing web content (such as news headlines or new content in your group). You can use RSS to read or display recent group messages on another location of your choice."

Any more questions, Chris?
This is one thing I really hate about computing and the Internet. Like you, I want to know if or how this would enhance my life on this forum, but, after reading that "definition" I haven't a clue.
Anyone? Anyone? Ferris?

Hi Chris,
RSS was originally used to stream stock quotes, news, scores, etc to cell phones. It is now being used on blogging sites and can be picked up by some browsers and mail programs.  I hadn't seen that it was available, I rarely go to the home page for the group, but when you mentioned it I went and looked.  One of the things that Firefox does is let you bookmark RSS feeds so I tried it out.
What I have is a "live" bookmark that automatically picks up new posts to the group and lists them

Jonna,
I'm using Firefox and can't find any reference to RSS anywhere in the browser or help. Can you direct me to a starting point?

Oops!  I sent you the wrong URL, that one is for Thunderbird.  I can't find the other one now of course.  Here's how to set up the RSS feed: Go to 'Manage Bookmarks' then under the File menu click on 'New Live Bookmark' and put
