My son has been doing some reserach for me in this area.  He suggested I look into the Cobra's new NavOne 3000. I would like to hear if anyone has done any research on this or has one.  I hate to go to the store and ask dumb questions.  Since I am driving alone now I need all the help I can get.  Mostly I need to keep my eyes on the road instead of trying to read road signs.
Thanks, Joanne, The Gray Goose Lady

Joanne,
If you'd written Grey Goose Lady I'd be looking you up for some free vodka samples.

This URL will get you the CNet review of the Cobra NavOne 3000: http://tinyurl.com/6jh7d

Please do a search on this LD site using "Garmin" to find recent, extensive discussion of the Street Pilot 2610 and 2620 models. Since much has been said about these units I'll only mention that the power cord contains a speaker so that you get  audible directions for turns without having to remove your eyes from the road.

Please post again with any questions.

C/NET notes that the NavOne 3000 is "Expensive; no touch screen; unintuitive menu system; too heavy for mounting hardware." It also lacks an AC adapter and a remote control--both items included with the less expensive Garmin StreetPilot 2610 and 2620, which do have a touchscreen, a very intuitive menu system, and two different sturdy mounts...as many of us can testify.
Conclusion: the Cobra unit just isn't competitive; Garmin's StreetPilot 2610 and 2620 are still the ones to beat. For more information, as Paul suggested, search the archives.

That's exactly my situation, and exactly why I'm in love with my  Garmin StreetPilot 2610! :-) It has literally changed my life: I now go fearlessly into places I would never have dared venture before, confident that I will never again be lost, because the StreetPilot will talk me through any and all streets and highways.
