used prices for LDs

Hi everyone--

Thank you for this wonderful list.  I'm shopping right now for a used 22 foot LD.  I appreciate the info in the "Files" section regarding used prices as a percentage of new prices.  How were these percentages arrived at?

I'm just wondering because the NADA prices--even retail ones--are substantially less than what this list says.  I know LDs are a great product...but isn't it their business at NADA to track actual prices?

For example, for 1992 models, NADA quotes retail prices to be $11- 12K, while in the list posted here, prices are $21-24K.  That's a big difference.

Enlightenment is appreciated.  Thank you all.

--- It's the law of supply and demand.  Lazy Daze does not make that many units in a year.  I looked almost a year to find my first Lazy Daze.  It was a 22 ft Twin/King and I did not argue about the price.  When I ordered an new Lazy Daze this year the person who purchased my used Lazy Daze did not argue about my price.  There were 3 people behing him waiting to see if he would back out.

Susan,

See Msg. # 41091 and Msg. # 7073 for some details of how the table was developed.  Basically it is a fit to reported asking prices for LDs based on two sets of collected data.  No provision was made for accessories/improvements or condition.  The surprising thing was that a good fit to an exponential decay of price with time resulted.  This exponential curve was used to generate the tables.
