GPS Units

I have a Magellan GPS and I am wondering if there are any out there that will let you program multiple destinations.  If I want to stop off somewhere, I have to program that one first, get there, then key in the next destination.  Seems like I should be able to put in multiple places.  Any feedback would be welcome.

This is one problem with many of the new automotive GPS units.  They have been "dumbed down", eliminating features found on earlier devices.  When I looked about a year ago, many of the units would only take a single "via" or none.  I want a GPS where I can specify multiple points that I want the route to pass through.  Our old Garmin SP 2610 and our newer Garmin SP 7200 allow the insertion of multiple "via points".  They still don't have the functionality of my DeLorme Street Atlas software on my PC, but enough to be useful.
You may also want to find a unit that allows you to add your own custom POIs (Points of Interest) to the GPS database.  There are many files of POIs on the web available for free.

 Garmin's Nüvi 750, 755, 760, 765, 770, 775, 780, 785, 750, 850, 855, 880, 885, and 5000 models all permit multi-point routing. Here's a link to the 750:

Scroll down on that page and you'll find a feature chart showing most of the others.
I recently replaced my StreetPilot 2610 with a Nüvi 855, and have been very pleased with it. The voice-recognition feature is especially handy, since it lets me keep my eyes in the road.

It's not really fair to say that GPS units in general have been "dumbed down." As mentioned in my last message, Garmin alone has 14 current models with multi-point routing, and I'm sure other manufacturers such as Tom-Tom and Magellan offer models with similar capabilities.
Five years ago, when I bought my StreetPilot 2610,  a decent navigational GPS cost $600-$800, and there simply were no low-cost, no-frills models. For that kind of money, you expected to get every possible feature. But nowadays the situation is different: a wide spectrum of GPS units is available, from basic $150 units that can get you from point A to point B, to units like my $270 Nüvi 855 with high-end features such as voice recognition.
Today's $300 GPS is a top-end unit with far more capabilities than the StreetPilot 2610 or 7200, which cost more than twice as much. But in addition to deluxe units, buyers now have a choice of low-end units such as the Nüvi 255 that offer fewer bells and whistles, but still have good basic navigational capabilities.
In short, there's simply more choice at both the high and low ends of the price spectrum--and that's a good thing for all of us. :-)

Cell phone navigation is causing all these manufactures to price competitively.  Anyone using it?  Will it multipoint?
