Valve Stems December 01, 2004, 09:24:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 47180*Reading the LD digest There is allot of talk regarding Borg and Tireman and thought I would add my two cents. Tireman created the stems and installs them. Borg just sells them. So when Ford changes things the person who does the installs is the first to know. Since Borg has broken the agreement with Tireman I don't think they will find out what changed from him. Tireman went into an agreement with Borg, because Borg had the contacts in China to have them manufactured. Tireman was to handle the RV customers, and Borg could have everyone else. Borg has broken the agreement and from what I have heard has advertised in the RV community. On top of busting the agreement they are also marketing the product for a couple bucks less. To me this is bad business! When we were there I watched Chuck do the install and there is a few things he did not tell Borg. Thirty years ago I use to sell tires and I saw how they were installed. Tireman takes a few extra steps to insure there will be no problems with his product. Who do you want working on your RV some guy who gets paid by the hour to install something you bring him.... Or the guy who invented it and can adapt the product to the changes. I am not selling this product or get any kick backs for promoting his product. Someone also asked how to get in touch with the tireman so I added that information. The Tireman http://www.ridgecrest.ca.us/~tire-man/default.html STORE LOCATION: 517 W. Inyokern Rd. - Ridgecrest, CA 93555* *STORE HOURS: Monday-Friday 8:00am-6:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm* *PHONE: (760) 446-3546* *E-MAIL: tire-man@...>*

I got the steel valves, the metal extensions, air-through caps on the rear and metal caps on the front.I did post some pix of the shop and master in the photos section.Paul
Re: Valve Stems Reply #3 – December 01, 2004, 09:56:32 pm Yahoo Message Number: 47184I got my information straight from the horses mouth... I could have went further with the attorney stories that Chuck told me, but why. Call Chuck ask him yourself. He is Tireman. I am not hear to argue or dampen anybodys day. Read other posts where Borg sold them the stems and suggested they go to Petes to have them installed? IMHO after watching him and talking to him I would not go anywhere else.

Okay I handed him a penny and he gave me a pocket knife, and said something about can't give something away for free. I thought this was worth far more than a penny. So I gave him something a friend of mine invented and sells them at the RV shows. A gift for a gift and we went on our way. He is really a nice guy, just wish he didn't charge so much to install the extended stems.

My grandmother would never give a person a knife without asking for a penny in return. It had something to do with knives in particular...not being able to cut you if you paid for them with a penny. She told me it was an old Scots tradition.Sonsie
Asking for a penny Reply #8 – December 02, 2004, 11:31:18 am Yahoo Message Number: 47199I found this on digsmagazine.com: "As for the knife, the folk lore goes like this: if you give a knife to a friend, the recipient is supposed to give you a penny as a symbolic gesture to avoid cutting the friendship. But, you're also not supposed to give knives as housewarming presents to your neighbors, because superstition says it'll make the new neighbor your enemy."Interesting...Joyce1981 20' "Maeve"

The Tireman cult is not for me, I know there are always two sides to any disagreement. I've heard quotes from him on this forum that I felt were just wrong and some of his requirements in the early days were not what I will accept from someone I'm paying money to. This leads me to believe that his statements require salt of various proportions. I bought the stems from Borg, had them installed when and where I wanted and went on about my business. They work great. It's not rocket science.Jonna, in Guadalajara
