Routing & hiding wire over windshield
I bought a Garmin dashcam for our 2014 27’ MB on an E-450 chassis. I want to run the wire to a 12v outlet on the bulkhead behind/over the passenger seat.  Before I start pulling things apart, I’m hoping somebody may tell me an easy way to get the wire there where it’s secured (i.e. won’t keep falling down in front of the windshield or onto the passenger) & hidden.

Thanks!

Hi Wanted a 55;  No need to run wires that way. The dash panels under where your knees would hit are pretty easy to remove. They snap in and pull off. You can access 12v.dc under there and hook up to the power points. Lots of wiring under there. If the power point you use doesn't go off with the engine off, you might want to limit use of the dashcam to not run down the chassis battery.
I run the TPMS, GPS, USB charger port and other items from under the dash.  RonB

Thanks Ron.  I’ll give that a look.

Sounds like you want it mounted high on the windshield, e.g. behind the rear view mirror - hard to notice from outside. On ours there are screws through the carpeting securing the ceiling panel, and loosening those allows the cabling to be pushed up out of sight. The front pillar covers can be easily removed to run to power, switches, etc.

When I installed the rear view mirror camera I ran the wire right at the top of the windshield and down the A-pillar. I used plastic loom (3/8") over the wire and just stuffed it up there. The A-pillar trim is easy to remove. Just remove the pull handle and pull the trim out.

Thanks Steve & Jor.  I will follow your lead on this now, & then look at the option of a permanent behind-the-dash connection when we get back from our Fall roadtrip.
