There are some nice improvements but some disadvantages too.
12-volt operation, lower power usage, and a smaller size are positives but having the router built into the antenna and lower-power WiFi is going to cause issues when we need to place the antenna up to 100' away from us and the friends we often travel with and share the StarLink with. Adding a Mesh router to the mix seems overly complicated.
The Gen 2 router's WiFi has a range of up to 300'+., the Mini has a shorter range.

Still, it's good StarLink is continuing to improve its products, not sure if a Mini is the correct model for our usage.YMMV

About time for an RV model, but the trade offs for it being smaller is too much for me

Sounds good to me. The cost of the roaming one I couldn't justify being that there are only a few nights a year where our T-Mobile and Weboost don't cut it.  If the cost is less and you can still turn it on and off that might make a difference for us.

Does the current StarLink have a direct network cable option? If the mini has one, a long cable to a computer node would solve the problem. Still, getting the 12V to reach out to the antenna might require setting a battery out with it.

The  Gen 2 StarLink is WiFi only,  there isn’t a network plug.
The Mini’s small size would be useful for field use, it could be carried on day trips.

Articles I've seen say that the Starlink Mini has an Ethernet port, so presumably one could run an Ethernet cable back to a wireless router inside one's RV.

Not good, indeed. A big disappointment.

Well, it took 9 tries before Elon landed a rocket.
Could this be similar?
