Changin' Oil February 17, 2024, 01:54:14 pm Taking off for two or three weeks so I changed oil in the 6.8 and the generator. What a pleasure these jobs are on the LD. Everything is so manageable. I was thinking as I was working how different this is than previous rigs we've had. Two of them took 10 gallons of oil for the engine and six quarts for the genny. Should have dumped the big rigs and gone with an LD years ago. But better late...jor 3 Likes

I put one on and never looked back. I use Mobil1 or Kirkland synthetic (the Costco brand oil is excellent!) and a Motorcraft filter. Re: Changin' Oil Reply #3 – February 18, 2024, 09:57:29 am I have a Fumoto on the rig and both of my cars. Another good choice for permanent drain plugs is the NoSpill (nospill). I had one once. A lot of guys use them if their plug is on the bottom of the pan as it protrudes less than the Fumoto. Lots of other choices too.Of course, these plugs make the DIY job easier but they are also valuable if you have the oil change done at a shop. No chance of them cross threading your drain plug. We used to get oil changes on the road sometimes at SpeedCo. I think they had problems with cross threaded plugs as they have each customer inspect the plug and sign off on it after the job is done. jor 1 Likes

They paid after a letter to corporate about possible class action; was never able to talk with the manager as he was always in small claims court....
