replace house batteries; pull out tray frozen
Hello,
We need to replace the T-105 6-volt batteries in our 2004 MB. During covid the batteries became corrupted and caused the battery tray to become stuck and we can't get it to slide out. Any suggestions on a solution for this? Thanks.

If the batteries leaked acid, then I would first disconnect the near end link connecting the batteries and tape up the clamp, then spray a baking soda solution throughout the compartment. Once any foaming has stopped, flush with water. When dry, spray WD-40 onto the slides and wherever they contact the batteries. Keep trying to work the slides until you can get them free - hopefully.

There is a lock on the front of the tray that sometimes requires some force to unseat.  

The ball bearings in the tray will eventually fail.  My rig is about the same age, and the tray sort of slides (once unlocked), but with a grinding noise.

It's much easier to move if you can get the weight of the batteries off of the tray.   Easier said than done, I know.  

You can find replacement sliding trays for sale online if you want a replacement. 

Many owners have removed the tray and moved to a system that allows them to maintain the batteries without sliding them in or out.   For traditional lead acid batteries, it would be a watering system like Flow-Rite.  For AGM or Lithium batteries, no maintenance required.
