Guessing the age of an LD September 06, 2023, 05:04:19 pm I’ve received lots of compliments on my MB as many know of the exceptional build quality of Lazy Daze. Others haven’t a clue what a Lazy Daze is. Todays encounter was the latter and a bit humorous to watch…I stopped at a gas station in a small Michigan town to refill the propane tank. The owner came out to hookup the propane hose and we had a friendly chat. He notices my South Dakota plates and ask if that’s where I’m going. I say no, I’m headed to California to see the birth of my great grandson. He smiles and then his expression turns to what I’ll call concern. He says… are you sure that old rig can make it all the way to California? Behind my snicker I tell him it’s a 2021 and then watch his jaw nearly hit the ground. He says, I thought they quit making Class-C’s like that 40 years ago. I had a good laugh and it kinda made my day. I just love my LD 😁- John 8 Likes
Re: Guessing the age of an LD Reply #1 – September 06, 2023, 05:09:28 pm That's great....I recently had an opposite reaction.......was filling the rig at a local gas station....a friendly guy came up to me to congratulate for the new RV and ask me if it's our first trip in it.....I then told him that we picked up our new rig in 2013.....he was blown away and made multiple comments about it looking brand new...now to be fair, we store it indoors so it's not baking in the SoCal sun...and it gets washed regularly..... 3 Likes

Re: Guessing the age of an LD Reply #4 – September 06, 2023, 05:58:13 pm Mine is old enough to still say made in Pomona, Calif. For LD people that gives it's age away, others, not a clue. 4 Likes
Re: Guessing the age of an LD Reply #5 – September 08, 2023, 01:31:11 pm Hi Jota; I use the cab mirrors to decide the age. The white tubes attached to the lower parts of the doors is one give away. Also the presence of a real front cabover window. (pre 1991). On even older rigs the 'orange' or 'gold' look, and the non black ' mitered corner' aluminum window frames. The new paint pattern is the big divide in age now, along with the more sloped nosecone and white raised panels. RonB 1 Likes

I have not found any earlier photos with Montclair. Has anyone else found an earlier "Montclair"r decal?Larry

Re: Guessing the age of an LD Reply #12 – November 18, 2023, 10:32:31 pm They don't have a clue how old my '91 is. Maybe I'll get a Historical Vehicle license plate to help them out. Or, I could repaint it with a dog's breakfast of confusing lines and stripes, and tell inquirers it's the new Mini Grand Design. Or...?
