SoCal members, batten down the hatches.
Remnants of hurricane Hilary are on their way to SoCal, tropical storm winds.

With climate change, California really can have it all, here I was having to choose between Floridian hurricanes or Californian earthquakes.

Wishing you safety, security and a bit of good luck.  Hopefully it will pass with minimal impact.

This will be the first tropical storm to reach the Los Angles area since 1939, the ocean is warm and has a lot of energy to produce havoc. Rain will be nice but hoping this storm doesn't produce lightning, there is too much dry grass and brush waiting to catch fire. It has been a strange summer, cool to begin with, and then into the oven.
We will miss the major impact as we head north to a Northern Exposure LD GTG in Northern California on Sunday.

Hello all Lazy Daze Friends

We are at Big Bear Lake, in a RV park with full hookups - top of a mountain in southern California.

Our plans are to stay put until Hillary "the storm" is past.

Flooding is not likely in the area we are parked, but wind, lighting, and all of the other perils are possible.

Just in case, we are loaded with full fuel, and WATER.  A little extra weight for the forecast wind speeds of 20-30 mph.

Cheers!

We just returned from a week boondocking at Barton Flats above Big Bear (6,400 ft elevation)….glad we’re not there these next few days amongst all the pine trees with that wind and lightning forecasted!

We decided to wait a day before leaving and see how intense the storm would be, right now the wind is blowing and it's raining hard. The news says this is the beginning of more intense rain and wind arriving later in the afternoon and evening.
Stay tuned.

It's good to have the LD fully loaded in case of power outages or other problems.

I prepped the LD with fresh water yesterday in preparation for today’s weather. Never know how the winds may blow.

This morning as the rain began I did my standard low level rig wash. Slightly soapy soft brush and my yard hose. No drying required.

Staying inside watching Maine Cabin Masters. At least I can enjoy the scenery.

To add to the fun we just had a 5.1 earthquake based out of Ojai.

It seems that nearly every area of the country to include Maui has experienced some kind of traumatic weather or fire related event in the last few months.   And unfortunately some areas certainly devastated beyond recognition.   In most of Texas we’re experiencing record setting heat, no rainfall, and maximum stress on the power grid.  The area is literally cooking.  It’s certainly hard on so many people. Sad and tragic.

It's been a miserable summer here in Southern New Mexico.  Temperature have seldom deviated from over 100 degrees and no rain.  I'm
"sheltering in place" at home for the summer doing renovations to my "sticks and bricks," but longing for cooler temps to travel once again...

So far in San Diego where I am, Just light rain, and some occasional gusty breezes.  My solar panels should be cleaner now.  I've been working on the insides, but not today. I didn't want to track too much dirt/water inside. So just some caulking curing for now.  San Diego is a large county with altitudes from sea level to 6,000 feet plus mountains. Seashore to back country.  So lots of things could be happening around me.  RonB

Best to all you in California.  You are in our prayers.  It seems with all that is occurring politically and environmentally that this may be the start of the end of the world.  Kind of crazy to say but just think about it and pray for mercy in these troubled times.

Morning LDOG

Here at Big Bear Lake California only light rain at this time.  Winds maxed out here at about 40 mph gusts.  Mostly 20-30. Heavy rain.

We see a little sunshine poking out right now.

Looks like it's over for us - at least.

Cheers!

We were relatively unscathed in northeast San Diego County.  Nicely soaking rain for 12 hours with some heavy downpours. Wind was tolerable with little plant damage.  Lucked out this time.

In addition to the rain and earthquake, we had mandatory fire evacuations in parts of Bear Valley Springs last week.  Fun times, all while trying to move to Paso Robles.

Greg,
You really do have some challenges on top of the usual moving and selling chaos.
Good luck with it all.
