Battery Box Photos
Does anyone have some photos of the lazy daze AGM battery box without the sliding tray?

I am rebuilding our battery box, removing the plastic (dont ask why) and considering just deleting out the sliding tray. Original tray in in rough shape and with a watering kit I wont need to pull them out often, I am just interested in how LD held the batteries in place when no slide was used.

Thanks in advance!

I replaced my AGMs with a 300AH Lithium which went under the sofa.  The battery box turned into a shoe-box.   I'll take pics and dimensions later and post them.  (Hopefully today, sans footwear).

Thank you Joel!

Surprisingly we are staying with lead acid’s, I would like to go lithium but I don’t have solar, don’t use an inverter, and don’t stay put for more than a weekend. I installed a 55 watt multistage  converter so if it’s a cold week and I’m running the furnace I just charge up with the genset.

As much as I would enjoy lithium I would end up falling down a pretty expensive rabbit hole if I went that route and I really never need the juice.

That said, if we are needing 120v off grid I keep a large lithium power bank in the RV. It charges at 1000w and provides ample power for the TV/coffee maker/electronics. And I can use it anywhere I feel the the need!

Removing the battery tray is common in older rigs, the battery acid destroys the slides if not regularly lubed. With a battery watering system, the tray is not needed. Removing the slide provides more room to work on the battery terminals.  With AGMs, LD used a simple wood hold-down, screwed into the battery box's frame.

If staying with lead-acid, the batteries must be in a sealed compartment, vented to the exterior. The batteries produce hydrogen gas which is very explosive when confined. After having a battery pack of six T-105 deep cycle batteries explode in my face many years ago, I'm cautious about venting the buildup of gas. Be safe.

In my TK, LD fabricated free floating wooden side structures (1-1/2" square wood frame) and a front cross member with a lip that holds down the batteries.  The side structures were sized for a snug fit front to back and top to bottom of the battery compartment which kept the structures from moving.
