Borg Tire Stems
I did check the archives first - hard to believe, but no joy!  (Might not have been specific enough?)

I'll be installing 4 dualys next month and thought I'd treat them to sparkling new tire stems.  In checking the Borg site, I was amazed at the prices.  I'd appreciate some help from you all to steer me in the right direction for what to order, questions to ask, etc.

Many thanks again for all your help.

Hi Lorna,

I got my extensions in 2019 from Borg. I got the chrome for the rear and also I believe it was 2" extensions for the front. If I was to do over again, I might pass on doing the front tires since I had to cut the wheel cover for my tire pressure monitors to work. Although I think I did a pretty good job on cutting them if I don't say so myself!  :D

The one thing I would recommend is to make sure that the installers follow the directions for installing the extensions. On my installation I received some spare parts back which included the unopened tube of sealer! I had to call Borg and get some more o rings sent to me (which they did for free - Thanks Kelly!) then have the tire shop reinstall the valve extensions. After they did that I noticed they didn't install the grommet for the inner real dually's, so I had to talk to them again to correct that!

Being that it was four years ago I don't have the receipts handy but I do remember working with Kelly who was awesome and went above and beyond. Below is a copy of a post by Tony, (Code Four) which has more information that could help.

These extenders have really made checking my tire pressure a lot easier.

Good luck with this. Ron

My tire stems are original 2010, with two inside dual having flex rubber extensions.  Had the flex rubber with mesh coverings on a previous RV that worked out, but maybe I was just lucky.

Borg Steel Valve Stems seem to be "the thing" today as they are near indestructible with proper installation.

In the next few days I have an appointment with Ted Wiens in Vegas for the Borg Valve install on all wheels.  Currently my Viair Compressor chuck is difficult and near impossible to connect to the old valves.

Not fun on your knees and 108 Degree heat here (or anywhere).

Also Kelly with the above company told me that she has had numerous Lazy Daze customers recently.  Shows you the power of this Forum.

Lorna-

I put DuallyValves front and rear on my former Class A. I bought through YourTireShopSupply.com, without assistance. The tire shop I selected installed them incorrectly, and then threw away the "extra" parts. Later problems indicated I needed those parts. The YourTireShopSupply customer support person (it could have been "Kelly," named above) did an excellent job assessing the problem, options and parts required to install the extensions correctly.

I had no problems with the extensions after the reinstall. I recommend both the company and the product. The money was small compared to the peace of mind.

Like many, I've had great customer service experience with Borg in purchasing the correct product.  The key is finding a tire shop that actually knows what they're doing!  For me, the folks at Allen Tire were fantastic (we're in So Cal) after the installers at Discount Tire broke the ones I had purchased/installed by Tireman (RIP)....well worth the money IMO

Good luck!

Thanks Ron (and Tony)...would appreciate a little more information though:  size (if that matters)? Is chrome the only choice?  Does the kit include rubber grommets?

And thanks for the Kelly referral - just hope she still works there!

I would assume your 2003 wheels are the same as our 2003.
The  DL1E kit should be the correct stems for wheel with 2” holes.

DL1E Brass Duallvalve Kit
Might be best to confirm with Kelly

 Lorna,

Like Larry said, brass is also available. Not sure on size, but the extenders come complete with the grommets, o rings, sealant and directions. Pretty sure Kelly will go over the size requirements. Worth taking the time to call your order in.

Hi Lorna;  It is my experience that with much salt on the roads, near beaches, etc. that the brass will turn green as it corrodes. I'm not the type to clean or polish them.  At "Your TireShop Supply"  DL1E Brass Duallvalve Kit      At the DuallyValve Installation Instructions just after Step 7, and right after the "Last Step" you will see the section "Frequently Asked Questions. The first answer states that the chrome is actually chrome plated brass tubing. Otherwise it is just brass without the chrome.
Unless there is actual damage, you might want to just replace the rubber seals inside that they recommend replacing after 5 years.  They have a kit for that.  quote"     Replacement
To reduce potential future air leaks; we recommend after 5 years replacing the rubber seals on the valve stems in the Dually Valve Kit. Just give Duallyvalve a call 800-300-2674 or 818-352-8717 x111 and we would be happy to help you get what you need.
FOR RE-INSTALL YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING PARTS: (1) DLPACKET, (1) PE9178 " (unquote)                         RonB

Great topic, everyone.  Thank you all for the insights and cautions.  Does anyone have a installer recommendation here in NorCal?

A good tire shop with attentive techs can instal them.
Most economical to have it done when new tires are installed .
