And put levelers down to prevent rocking back and forth.  That keeps the rig stiffer so it doesn't lean back at the wrong time, just when a gust might get it moving enough to go over.  RonB

If an LD had been blown over, the interior would not have fallen apart.
Most DPs have no actual framing or rollover protection. The results of being blown over are very predictable, the rig is going to fall apart and be totaled.

Good to know that our LDs are built to take a lot of abuse with three roll bars and a frame and interior that are screwed and glued together into a monolithic structure.  An LD in the same situation would probably be driveable once back on its feet and would have a lot of superficial damage.

Great point.I wonder even with levelers down if they may have sunk in the asphalt and allowed it to rock and go over. But they sure would have given it a better chance.

Ken Fears once said that during a high wind storm, his 2008 MB was moved about 2” while on his Bigfoot levelers.  The storm certainly got his attention!

I wonder. Since levelers are inboard of the wheels, they provide a narrower base width, so they could be even worse in a sidewind. On the other hand, they're supposed to be rigid, while the suspension permits some sway. I could see it either way, but I wouldn't count on them to be much help in the situation encountered by the Newmar owners.

Parking into the wind is always a good idea, if you can manage it. Their campsite may not have permitted that.
