Roadside Assistance Companies

I always heard from this forum that Coachnet was superior to the more popular companies. Maybe they are. I have paid them, but the only use I made of them was assistance in mounting 130 pound tires in my garage.

I called a company when we broke down on US395 close to Lone Pine. I could see a tow service from where we were. They had over dozen rigs in the yard. Some large enough to pull tractor trailers out of Death Valley. The roadside service said there were no tow operators in the area. I walked to the tow yard, they towed us, I sent the bill to the roadside assistance company and they paid it.

Would you have happened to be camped at Boulder Creek RV?

That's where I was when my fuel pump failed. Good Sam said the nearest tow would have to come out of Los Angeles. The campground called the outfit just up the road and they arrived in fifteen minutes!

Miller Towing in Lone Pine is Death Valley's official tow service. They have tow trucks of every shape and size, most of them 4X4s.
If you break down in the backcountry they WILL get your vehicle out, at a significant cost, even if they need to airlift it out.
The Park Service requires disabled vehicles to be removed within two or three days.

Yup, that's the outfit, first time I've slept in the LD while up on a lift rack!

They had to order the fuel pump out of Reno, overnight. I was back on the road by 2pm.

I have used CoachNet for more than ten years and it covers all my vehicles and trailers too. They have been great, but when I'm in Alaska it's easier for me to actually tell them the towing or service company to call and give them the phone number... and they will use it. Sometimes I even call the company in advance to be sure they can come soon, and then give the information to CoachNet. Otherwise they have to look for providers, when I can find better information locally. I've understood they have actually towed an RV all the way from Alaska to Seattle to get it to an appropriate service place. Other roadside assistance companies like AAA have a 100-mile towing limit, which is less than the distance from my house to Anchorage, the nearest big city.

You give very sound advice. Last Saturday after leaving the Grand Canyon Railway RV park, I experienced a warning from my TPMS that my drivers front tire was down to 33.5 lbs.

I had just pulled off the 40 (after getting turned around heading to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon). I immediately called Coach Net and the very kind lady did her best to locate a tow or repair center nearby.

By the time she gave my daughter several options, I had reinflated the tire and drove to the representatives best choice option. While that choice did not suit my needs, CoachNet did a wonderful job of helping me out.

Next time I’m in an out of the way place and need tire/tow service, I’ll see what options I have on my own and ask CoachNet if those choices can be arranged.

So based on this limited review, no one has made a negative about Coachnet. Alaska to Seattle - WOW.
I guess it SOTC are the ones to avoid because they only offer to pay the operator $65. You can work out SOTC.

We have been lucky never needing our LD towed but have used Coachnet three times for our cars, yes the policy also covers your personnel vehicles. Each time the service has been good and never been a hassle about towing a long distance.
I will never go back to the Auto Club.
