Remove Microwave
From a post Larry made 22 years ago --- yes 22 years.

Yahoo Message Number: 1956
My 83 RL LD doe not have a generator so the microwave is really useless except when hookups are available. What do most people use them for anyway, defrosting frozen foods and heating their coffee or other food? Get an insulated mug and plan your meals a little. In return, you get a nice piece of storage space.
I easily removed it. Unplug it and look inside the cabin next to it and see if there is anything attaching it to the motorhome. Mine was held in by the trim.
Depending on how your MH is finished you can leave it alone or add some wood trim. As to what to do with the space, We added a piece of netting across the bottom half. We use the area to store paper towels, bread, and other lightweight items. Determine what your needs are and design accordingly. I asked Steve several years ago at LD if an LD could be ordered without a microwave. He said yes and that a door could be installed. The door size is similar to some other doors they use.
Maybe they have a replacement door you could purchase.
Just an idea.

LB and I decided to remove the microwave was just wasted space for us.  In almost 10 years of rving we never used the appliance except for storage of this and that.
So I'm making a call out for some ideas to replace and fill the empty space.

I use my microwave often. I have a fantasy of removing my oven to replace it with a propane stove top. The oven area would either become a shelf for my air fryer or a deep drawer.

I look forward to seeing your finished project. 🙂

Cover the floor with 1/2" plywood and panel the walls with luan or other thin material, then add a shelf or two.
Finding a door that fits and matches is going to be a bigger project

As a 22-year update, when we ordered our 2003 LD, I ask Steve if he could provide a matching door to cover the microwave cabinet, I was told that none of their existing doors would fit and custom-sized doors were not available.
For other last nineteen years, the microwave was used as a breadbox. Last year a 2200-watt inverter was installed, along with lithium batteries, that enables the microwave to be used without shore power or running the generator.
Today, the microwave is mostly used as a breadbox.

We used our microwave as storage for four years in our 98~MB before we decided to remove it in a total Kitchen remodel.  I contacted the Mothership to possibly find out if their supplier might have door options for us.  That went nowhere.  Basically those doors do not exist except in older models that are out there and tracking them down would be difficult.  We decided to use the cabinet doors from our bathroom and resize them to fit in our kitchen.  We would also be able to do this because we would be painting the cabinets in our kitchen and bathroom.  This makes it easier since we would not have to try to match the wood color and grain for the new door parts.  Also our Kitchen project required a second door to cover a new small cabinet we built to replace the brown pad that covered the left side of the kitchen cabinet above the kitchen sink.

Unfortunately I am not able to up any new photos of the finished job since the website is displaying a DATABASE ERROR when I try.  I will add more photos when I can.

We now use our new space for storing pots & pans and other kitchen items we use a lot.  We did put our Air Fryer in that space but it requires more space for ventilation when it is in operation and we don't use it as much.

We do use our microwave when hookups are available but, like others, it usually does duty as a place to store chips, bread, or other easily "smashable" items.

That’s a different contest, searching and finding the oldest post is one thing.
You win for the oldest posting.

Having a very old post quoted in reference to an actual question is another contest.

Our setup is similar to Larry's, and frankly, before the inverter, we tended to forget we had the nuker for other than storage when we DID have hookups. Now, though, that we can use it whenever, reheating or cooking nukable items is something we do as comes up in cooking - just as at home. We still use it as a breadbox 99% of the time, but the other 1% it is really nice to have.
