"If anyone knows what Joan's CC membership number was . . ."

Joan's number was 2933, at least based on the Caravan Club membership list we have. Which means she joined the Club with Lazy Bones in December 2007.

And that also means my recollection that she joined with us in December 2003 is wrong.

RIP Joan, I met you many times at Morro Bay and always enjoyed our conversations. I remember my first trip there and Joan gave a presentation to the care and feeding of your LD. I was impressed at her extensive knowledge. She always gave complete information including links to relevant web sites relating to her explanations, I know that is time consuming and grateful for her efforts. Joan, you will be missed.  :'(

It saddens me immensely to read of Joan's passing.  We also met her for the first time at one of the Morro Bay GTG as many in the group have said.  Joan was a special person, smart, witty and full of knowledge.  She had been a teacher and continued in her profession within our group in the fireside chats.  She loved her dogs and welcomed us with our two doodles.  Some people fade away as they cross over, but not Joan Taylor.  When she sold her LD, many wondered why?  She said it was time to let someone else enjoy her beloved TB.  Now we know there was another unspoken reason.  God will surely welcome her into his kingdom.  Thank you for your advice and LD camaraderie over the years.  You are a great addition in heaven.

Thanks for the memories,,

I'm so sad to hear of Joan's passing.  I first met her at a LaDeze get together near Parker, AZ.  We corresponded by email many times during the ensuing years and I always enjoyed my correspondence with her and her posts here.  She will certainly be missed.

Yes, you are correct, and for that very reason I was always self conscious around Joan, knowing that she would pick up on any grammatical mistakes on my part. I fully expected a terse correction that never came.  ;D

Clearly Joan left an indelible mark on this Forum and a good part of the RV Community.  This Neighborhood in my opinion will not be the same without Joan which is difficult to accept.  😢

Well, shoot, she definitely was a good one. I met Joan at a  boondocking area south of Ajo, Arizona. There were at least four Lazy Dazes parked there. I remember when one couple asked about a problem they were having with their brand new Lazy Daze, Joan didn't hesitate and dove right under the chassis and had a look. Nothing to protect her from the desert plants, sand, rocks, etc. We were all looking on with dropped jaws, in amazement. She emerged and gave the couple some ideas about what they could do to fix the problem.

Later, Joan and a friend were planning to take a guided tour of a rugged drive in Organ Pipe National Monument. But the tour got canceled for lack of enough people. Joan decided that she was going to take her Lazy Daze on that drive anyway. Once again, we were left with dropped jaws. Andy Baird and I had taken that drive a couple days earlier in my Jeep Liberty; it was not for the faint of heart, with some considerable drop-offs. Definitely a 4WD road. I'm sure Joan handled it quite well. I would have gladly lent her my Jeep, but she was already done with the drive by the time I found out!

Joan was always helpful and kind. So knowledgeable.

Who is going to be our tire expert in Joan's place?

"I was honored the day I stood shoulder to shoulder with Joan when we both got 'numbered' into the Caravan Club."

And now comes a mystery ---- When did that occur?

I've gone through my membership papers and cannot find a date. From info in my packet I learned that members Geo. & Jane WARD had CC #2931 issued in May of 2007, also at Live Oak while my # is 2934 . The next Live Oak GTG was the following November (2007), and it is because of that I believe Joan and I joined that month. If anyone knows what Joan's CC membership number was I,m betting it's one digit ± from mine.  ;D

We were rig #2928 in March of 2007, at Lake Perris along with three other newbies. Joan’s was rig #2933, but we don’t know where/when it was issued. Gosh, time flies. — Jon&Loni

Agreed, Joan was so helpful last April, recommending which tires AND where to go in San Jose to get them.

She happily went above and beyond to help this Lazy Daze newbie last year, will dearly miss her.

At the 2023 March Morro Bay GTG, we will have a celebration Joan's life on Friday, March 10 at 4:00 PM, held at a campsite to be determined.
All friends of Joan are invited.
Bring your memories of Joan and any stories and photos you would like to share, along with a happy hour snack and something liquid to use for a toast.

Wow!  This news hits hard.  Joan was very helpful to me when I joined.  I never met her in person.  I didn't mail her.  But when I or someone else had a question she was always there with a helpful suggestion or idea.  I alway paid attention when she posted something.  I am glad I checked in, but sad I checked in to the forum.  Take care everyone.

I’ll miss Joan. She was a “giver” in her life. She was a natural teacher who enjoyed sharing knowledge. She loved people. She was always willing to help others in any way she could.  She had a great wit and immense tenacity. I admired Joan as a person.
May God bless her soul.
