mid-bath 06 27 1/2 ft - passenger side rear view mirror is broken -
A spring inside the passenger side rear view mirror is broken and local Ford dealership cannot find a replacement for either the part or the whole unit. Ford no longer has them in stock. Unfortunately, the mirror move with the wind, so without some sort of repair, our unit is underivable. Anyone have any ideas?

Robert, the exterior mirrors are not Ford OEM parts. Velvac is the manufacturer Velvac Motorhome Mirrors. Best to call them or a local dealer for help.

Robert, IF I read your post correctly, you are looking for a replacement arm for your passenger side mirror?

I have an entire passenger arm from my 2003 mid-bath. My driver side arm fell apart in my driveway, very much like the discussion years ago about "Exploding Velvac mirrors". After consulting the folks at Lazy Daze, they suggested that I convert my mirrors to the new style Velvac that they were installing at that time. The new mirror assembly was the 2020XG. There is a post I made about my problem in the archives. Even better, look up the mirror issue on the Lazy Daze Companion site.

I believe that Ford made a change in 2003 to the mirror mount behind that black triangular piece at the corner of the door. The mirror mount was changed from a 3 bolt pattern to a 4 bolt pattern; your 2006 should use the same 4 bolt arm mount as my 2003. But keep in mind, the mirrors and arms were supplied by Velvac.

I would be happy to give you the passenger side arm which I saved, free of charge. You will need to pay for shipping the arm to you. You would need to remove your mirror from the existing arm and transfer it to the replacement arm.

I think your other option is to switch to the 2020XG style arms and mirrors. Back in 2015, I think it cost me around $215for each side for black arms and mirrors.

If you or anyone else is interested In a 4 bolt mirror arm, let me know. I can go to a UPS Store to enquire about shipping charges in early 2023. I am located in NE Ohio if you are in this area.

I have a 2006 passenger side mirror housing (no arm) with broken glass. Since the glass is broken, I can peer inside. I see no springs, but rather a metal connection point. Maybe there’s a spring inside that?  See photos below. If any of this is helpful, you’re welcome to it. — Jon

Out of curiosity I just checked the current retail pricing on the base 2020XG arms and mirrors direct from Velvac...... $614.98 per side or $985.95 per matched pair. Ouch!

I haven't shopped for them lately. When I bought the new arms and heads, I ordered from Ryder Fleet Products; I don't think they are still in business. I thought it was expensive then. I seem to think there is a truck supply company here in NE Ohio that was close to the Ryder price back then but getting them quickly was a problem.

So the OP asked for help and in no time they received offers of free replacement parts, links to replacement mirrors, and cost estimates.  This Neighborhood is certainly among the most supportive and caring parts of an otherwise troubled world.

On the other hand, an exception might be Argentina 🇦🇷 who are insanely happy right now!!

To order the Velvac 2020XG mirrors and arms, you might want to check out a truck supplier based in Ohio, Mill Supply.
Snow Plow Parts, Stepvan Parts, Medium Duty Truck Parts, Motorhome Parts,... They have a recreational vehicle section on their site.
I think their prices are better than Velvac. I never dealt with them and have no vested interest. Since they are located in the area, I would try to pick the parts up at their location and save shipping charges. Perhaps Amazon has the Velvac parts too.

I bought Velvac 2020s from Mill Supply several years ago; I was satisfied with the product and service then, but have no recent dealings. The pair of Velvacs 2020s is “on sale” for $565; considerably more than I paid then, but *everything* is!

Thanks so much to all of you who replied, for sure. Specially Steve and Jon (and Karen-Liam, lol). I'll need to check with the Ford folks and find out the specifics on what is actually broken, then will get back to you. I greatly appreciate your help.

Once the mirror has broken loose, there is no repair, only replacement of the mirror base.
It is a very common problem caused by a metal tab that retains the spring breaking off inside the base's casting.
You need a new base and arm, the mirror can be transferred to a new arm.
We try to only pull the mirrors in when absolutely necessary, they often break when folding the mirror in or out.

Robert, as Larry posted, you are going to need to replace the entire arm assembly. Take a look at the Mill Supply link I posted earlier and scroll through their motorhome mirrors. You can purchase an entire new arm and mirror for the passenger side from them.

If you decide to go make that purchase, pay attention to the style of mirror. There are the ones with the small wide angle piece on a lower corner or ones with an entire wide angle lower section. Match whatever kind you currently have. I do not see a way for you to buy just the arm. If you find a way to just purchase the arm, you should be able to easily move your current mirror heads to the new arm. All of the arms that I see for the Ford chassis are for 2003 and newer chassis with the 4 bolt mounts.
Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Well folks, I have a new passenger side (right side) mirror mirror on my 06 LD thanks to you all for the inputs. Special thanks to Larry and Steve K. Larry, I appreciate your comments about pushing the mirrors in and out only when necessary.
And Steve K, I got the mirror from Mill Supply, Inc., @ 213.95 plus $44.05 shipping - Fed EX and it came in a few days with excellent updates as usual from Fed Ex.

You guys made my day - Thanks again.
