12-4-1971 - 51 Years (Off Topic) December 04, 2022, 12:20:51 pm A special day for us today🥰 (Our Anniversary ). I only wish I could remember more of that time. On the other hand, we started making videos of our longer RV trips about 4 years ago to help us remember the joy of it once we can’t travel anymore. Something to think about. 9 Likes

Re: 12-4-1971 - 51 Years (Off Topic) Reply #3 – December 05, 2022, 02:50:43 am We have a trip log book for this Lazy Daze motorhome that we use to record getting gasoline, stops for food, expenditures at 'Travel Centers' and tourist stops. It has sort of morphed into a diary of sorts. It brings back a lot of memories of where we have been, what different roads and campgrounds are like and the people we've met. RonB 2 Likes

And actually I’m not qualified to offer guidance on either subject!

Something to think about. You've got a 2 year lead on us. We hit 49 years near the end of this month. At least 10 years ago we started creating photo books of major trips, both RV and non RV. When we started full time RVing in 2015 we started creating yearly books that summarized the best parts of each year. Now that we no longer own an RV, we still hope to travel enough to put a few more photo books together. 4 Likes
Re: 12-4-1971 - 51 Years (Off Topic) Reply #6 – December 05, 2022, 12:27:04 pm Hi Art; Congratulations are due now, and later this month. You've settled down near where you were years ago. See if you and Barbara can drop by (maybe rent a hotel room) at the Morro Bay meeting next March. ( Morro Bay GTG 9-12 March 2023 Reply #23) I have friends who lived in Buellton. So today marks our 52 year anniversary. From backpacking, to car camping in the desert, tent camping, pickup camper (8.5') to motorhome(s) it has been an adventure! And lots of actual printed photos! It's a long story that stretches' back to 1641-1644 in Windsor, CT.Below is a synopsis of the Buellton beginnings."The Rancho San Carlos de Jonata covered more than 26,000 acres, from the west to mission Santa Ynez, from the middle of the Santa Ynez River on the south to Zaca Station (north on Hwy 101). The land grant had been issued to Jose Covarrubias and Joaquin Carrillo on September 18, 1845 by Governor Pio Pico, last Mexican Governor of California. Covarrubias and Carrillo used the land only for raising cattle, but Rufus.T. Buell had other plans for the extensive property. The Buell ranch became a model of a fine working ranch, as Rufus T. Buell had the ability to operate a prosperous horse and cattle ranch and dairy farm. Buell Flat, to the East, grew wheat and other grains on 4,200 acres. To keep the horse and cattle under control, R.T. Buell had constructed 40 miles of board fencing for the ranch, an unheard of thing for those days. Lumber was expensive and other costs were very high." 5 Likes

Re: 12-4-1971 - 51 Years (Off Topic) Reply #9 – December 06, 2022, 05:09:11 pm Congrats to all the long marriages! We hit 55 later this month and some of the absolute best of those years were the 15 in our (now gone) TK. We didn’t video much, but my almost daily blog of most of our trips is a continuing memory lane. I highly recommend doing some sort of capture of your LD years. You’ll appreciate it later! — Jon&Loni (just back from cabin “camping” next to our Caravan friends at Lake Cachuma — life after LD!) 5 Likes

I have friends who celebrate 54 years later this month. They have a 33 foot, 2017 Winnebago class 'A' in Florida. (they also lived in Buellton) RonB 1 Likes
