Re: Finding new marker lights
I realize this post may not be about finding information in "The Companion" and the subject has drifted to finding replacement LED round marker lights.

I started looking on the internet and it seems to me that Peterson still offers the round marker light assembly but it is now called the V102-R for red and V102-A for amber. The lens size seems the same as the old 102 replacement lens.  Several places sell it for under $5 including the base though Amazon has it for a bit over $7. Would seem to be a simple thing to use an LED bulb as a replacement for the incandescent if that is important. But I always wonder what benefit LED would bring to a clearance light?

Am I missing something in this discussion?

Hi I'm experimenting on how to split and merge posts:
The back wall is flat rolled down aluminum. So any size or shape of flush mounted lamp will do. The front wall or end cap has recessed depressions, so a new style or shape would have to cover the depression, or fit inside of it.  The end cap changed in (I'm guessing) 2007, and has a semi rectangular shape.  This shape also has depressions in the fiberglass that would be even harder to cover.  Modern marker lights, taking advantage of one bright LED in the center, have gotten even smaller.  That might fit in the post 2006 style caps. Original equipment replacements may still be available.
I believe Lazy Daze went LED with the change to the new shape of front cap, no faux windows painted black, but I'm not sure which year or what shape the new marker lights were. That change was recent enough that it won't be an issue for some time still.
I found this video about different back side plugs.  927402-9 Grote Red Clearance Marker Lamp, A P2, P3, Permanent, Round |...    Later in the video it describes different types of connectors shapes and sizes.
And these rectangular marker lights look similar to the new front cap Lazy Daze models.   Toolots, Inc. - Reliable Equipment Fast.

Hi Steve K.  LED's don't burn out.  (well almost never).  Some states have annual safety checks, and failing one is expensive. An inconvenient bulb burn out would be a nuisance.  As Larry stated they really are required.
A friend had an Itasca with daisy chained bulb across the front. Bump the one that was out and it would turn on. and another would go off, etc.  Not the fault of the incandescent lights, but I have had them burn out. As someone stated earlier, many of mine were partially glued in place, and most had white paint spatter. As the tungsten filament evaporates in the vacuum, it turns the glass envelope darker.  LED's have intrinsic colors not dependent on the lenses, and with multiple di a better distribution of light. And lower power drain also.
If you are stranded by the side of the road at night, the markers often are all that is lit after a few hours.  The chassis battery is often in poor shape after repeated start attempts.  (Not so much a problem in an RV.) RonB

Hey Ron. Thanks for the reasons why LED marker lights could be worthwhile. Perhaps they are ultra persnickety with safety inspections in "some states". I can say that my 2003 still has its original incandescent bulbs in 8 of the marker lights. My experience has been that when a marker bulb appears to be burned out, if I wiggle the socket, it lights back up.

Just one more observation is that my rig has rarely been on the road at night so those bulbs have few hours on them. Yes, I do have my lights turned on in the rain and fog, but...after nearly 140,000 miles, I still have my original headlight bulbs too. Now those brake lights are another story 😬

My original question, "am I missing something?" in this message thread was about why some folks could not find new complete round marker lights to replace their deteriorated Peterson marker lights.

Some RV projects and upgrades are necessary.  Some are an improvement or at least beneficial.  Some are “cute” and look better.   Some are just piddling projects.  And some end up in the “regret” category waiting for a garage sale.  I’m sure LED marker lights fall into one of the above categories.

I suppose I’ll wait until our original lights burn out and we have a few extra dollars and an empty LD project list.

"If you have a source, please tell"

Don, Larry W posted links for the Peterson V102-R (red) and V102-A (amber)  for Amazon purchases a few posts above this one. I found that by searching the internet, several sources including RVUpgrade Store had the V102 lights. Admittedly these are the fixtures with incandescent bulbs but it sounds easy enough to use LED's in the socket. My point was the fixtures are available.

For those who have front caps with round indentations in the fiberglass for the original lights (at least if they're the same size as my 2003 RB), the V102 model round clearance or marker lights referenced above do not fit. They are too wide, almost 3" in diameter). I found a good alternative on etrailer.com

Amber --  https://www.etrailer.com/p-MCL0040ABB.html
Red -- https://www.etrailer.com/p-MCL0040RBB.html

The lights on our 2003 may not have been sealed properly, either that or the sealant had broken down to the point that there was nothing visible remaining to prevent water from intruding through the mounting screw holes. The entry point for the wiring was still sealed.

These lights we used come with a foam backing stuck to them that we chose to remove to allow a more permanent seal. This was all done by the RV solar installer (I'll post more on that after I pick up the RB this weekend). They look great, were relatively inexpensive, and already have the LED's installed.

These particular ones may have been mentioned before, but thought I would post a success story.
