Black tank replacement on ‘99 lazy daze 30 IB
My rear tire blew and cracked my black tank. I am wondering if anyone knows what model black tank I can replace it with?
I have a ‘99 Lazy Daze 30 foot island bed.

Thank you in advance for your knowledge and replies!

Hi Shapia; Welcome to the Lazy Daze Owners Group, and I hope you get some replies to your question. As far as I know, those tanks were custom made for each model, and a 23 year old rig with a rare floorplan will have to rely on a tank repair.  A picture of the damage would help guide our replies.  The polyethylene (I believe that is what they are made of) can be welded while in place. Easier if it is just cracked and no pieces are missing.   This Youtube video shows a person welding a new tank together.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddLlSRtYqFU    A similar welder would be what you need to repair your tank.  No glue will stick to polyethylene, but If the crack isn't too bad I might give Eternabond a try.  The pressure in the tank isn't that high.  Eternabond is really! sticky.   RonB

First welcome to the Forum.   Any damage to our RVs is painful.  I hope you can at least repair the damage.   I’m might suggest you email Todd Miller at Ldrvtodd@yahoo.com.  As you probably know, he worked at the LD Factory for decades.  He’s making himself available to help LD owners now that the Factory is closed.

If you’re not using a TPMS on your tires, I’d like to suggest it’s worth considering.  Without a doubt, it’s among our most important aftermarket safety devices.

Best of luck.

My 2017 model black tank was manufactured by El Monte Plastics in El Monte, CA but I think they are no longer in business.  If a repair is not possible, you will probably need to contact a tank manufacturer to do a custom (pricey) build.

I have use Eternabond Tape to make temporary repairs on two cracked holding tanks, one of them has held for years. The proper way to repair is fusing to crack together using a hot air welder along with polyetheline welding rod, a process best left to a pro. Welding in place, upside down, is very difficult, it’s suggested to remove the tank first.
Plastic fabricators and some RV repair shops can repair cracked tanks.
As Ron said, no glue or epoxy will permanently will
repair the crack.
