Worked on my awning today. Opened it all the way and attached the legs to the rig and extended them both completely. Only had two notches to adjust the closure. Closes better with only a little gap.

I did notice the fabric a bit wavy on the left side. So I’ll back off the notches and use the tape technique the next chance I get.

So far so good.

I tried the tape and it did latch somewhat better, but then the right side (front of the vehicle) didn't latch.  It seems that the folding arms are hanging down too low.  It is possible that both of the shock absorbers are worn out and need to be replaced?
Both ends are now locked, but to do that I had to lift the tube on each side for them to be in position to lock.

Where do you order the Fiamma Parts?  Two shock absorbers.  Mine is a 13' Fiamma 45S.

Parts are available directly from Fiamma

You will need the specification numbers found on the plate inside the awning cover.

Sure wish I knew how to adjust for a sagging cover. Our awning's front cover will sometimes need a nudge upward to get it to pop in.
Take a close look at the plastic shock absorber and see if they are cracked or broken. The shock absorbers are considered to be consumables and will need occasional replacement.

Thanks Larry.

I did go to Superior Quality Products, but it automatically directs to the Fiamma website.

The F45S 400 - 13 foot model is the one installed on my RV a 2010 RB.  BUT.....
I was unable to find the "shock Absorbers" on the parts list.  In fact, I don't even see shock absorbers on the parts lists even with a search function on their page.

Steve, do you have a part number for the shock absorber(s) you installed?

Where did you purchase it, and the cost if I may ask?

How complicated is the change to the new parts?

Obviously, this is a very common problem with these awnings, as I have an inbox of private messages concerning the same issues from other LD Owners.

We are all in together my friends.

Cheers!

Tony,
I just ordered parts from them. I e-mailed them a description and picture of what I needed along with the serial number.  they responded  the next day with the part number and told me to call to order and give a cc number.

The F45R is a different model than used on the awnings of the vintage of mine and Larry's, the F45i. It does not appear to have a similar replaceable plastic component which blows out. Do a search for "Fiamma SpareParts_Catalogue_2019.pdf", a 43MB file, which has exploded diagrams of all the awnings. Parts ordered from fiammausa.com.
