Yes, a sad day indeed but not totally unexpected since they have had trouble getting chassis and other parts for the last couple years. Hopefully they will decide to continue selling parts and doing repair work.

In my opinion, this will make our LDOF community more important than ever to support each other with repairs and maintenance as our rigs (and we) age!

You hit the nail on the head, Greg. The bad news that LD is closed is balanced by the fact,
that, thanks to our excellent moderators and talented and helpful members, we have one of the best RV communities anywhere. We can and will support each other!

I am NOT handling this situation very well.   I'm overwhelmed by the sadness impacting so many to include the extended family of LDOs ... Loyal Customers.  My world has just become a little darker.   :'(

There were a lot of "hints" that this day was coming. However, it is pretty sad news. After being on the waiting list for about three years, "plan B" will be the unfortunate reality.

Thank you Lazy Daze!

When my dear wife left this life in 2005 our 30'IB was less than a year old. It was then that the world came crashing down on my head.

But instead of crying in my beer I took the Lazy Bones on the road. Over the intervening years I have met dozens of new friends and have seen most of the U.S., including three times to Alaska.

So thank you Lazy Daze for saving my sanity and my heart, I could not have done it without you!

It’s surreal, reading this news in Yellowstone in my new Lazy Daze , same place I discovered Lazy Daze 18 years ago.

In anticipation of this day and after 2 1/2 years on the waiting list, my plan B is a B which I just purchased - a 2023 Travato 59K .  It's a major change to the MB I once owned and I don't know yet just how well it will work out for me.   At 74 I felt something smaller and easier to drive might be appropriate to extend my days on the road.   For anyone interested check it out on Utube.

We had been talking to Todd and heard the words “we have to figure things out” about a month ago, which reading between the lines I read as maybe not making LDs anymore, maybe doing repairs only., maybe shutting down completely.

We started looking at plan Bs. I talked to Vince (used to be LD service manager) a couple weeks ago to check on some things and ask about any runner up suggestions..  During our conversation I mentioned my talk with Todd and he said call Todd back, there might be a different answer now.

Todd’s new answer (2 weeks ago) changed to a defiant not making any LDs in the foreseeable future.  I know builds of other class Cs are still difficult to get and they are just trickling in right now.’ I figured LD didn’t want to fight for  a share of the products when the big companies were fighting to get all they could and had more clout.
But 2’weeks ago Todd was not saying we are done (yet), just strongly advising us to look elsewhere knowing we wanted one sooner.

FYI, Vince had no recommendations for a Class C of better quality he would suggest checking out

He confirmed the issues with Super Cs right now (Def component issues, easy to read about these on the internet).  I don’t know if you can avoid the issues if  you buy a SuperC more than a few years old but the new engines are still having the problems.

It sounded like Vince had some good  trailers/5th wheel recommendations he could make if anyone wants to go that direction.  We are not interested in that so I didn’t ask brands.

Good luck to everyone as they make their transitions.
If anyone finds that the place that Vince works at now does LD repairs let us all know.

LD's closing its doors took longer than I expected, but even after 66 years (and a lot of highs and lows and various "eccentricities"!) of producing a high quality product with factory-direct, no gimmicks pricing and consistent customer support, the very small operation serving a limited market niche couldn't withstand the economic realities of demand, but no supply. Predictable, but a sad end to a unique and long-standing business model; for all of its quirks, Lazy Daze was a singular, quality-focused company. I never regretted my decision to order an LD, and I'm very glad to have been a part of it for almost 20 years.

Very sad indeed.
Our prayers go out to all the folks involved with the Mothership.

We just picked up our 2019 MB this past Saturday. Awesome coach.

Wow, so sad. I've barely discovered LD's in the last year, got our used one in March of 2021 and have been learning things and taking trips. I find the community awesome and fascinating. Felt like we were a part of something very special and unique. We still are a part of it but to hear they are stopping for good really is very sad. We live near the mothership and have gone down to pick up small parts here and there. I love the look of the place, like a time capsule. I love the story of the brand and how small they are (real mom and pop feel) and how good the product is made and how they went against the grain to make something awesome that people really value. This is a total bummer man, I feel very sad for all involved.

This is awful.  Somehow I doubt Amazon Basics Class C Motorhomes will be comparable to LD.    :'(

We are grateful to Todd, Steve, Vicki and the others at LD that built and provided excellent after the sale support for our 2005 RK.   Especially thankful that the team completed our 2022 MB before closing the factory.  We took delivery May 19th and are very pleased with the build quality.

I feel fortunate to have had the support I obtained from the Mothership as short and sweet as it has been.
That support was unprecedented compared to the other RV’s I have owned and loved🌺❤️
We are all still living the dream and I am thankful to the help I obtain through this site. Long Live this site 😉

I sent a quick email to Todd last night and the response I got back indicated that there may still be parts and service available. I wrote back seeking confirmation of this and thought people might be interested in his response, so with his blessing I have copied and pasted his response below.

Hi Ken,

Yes I have been preparing a parts and service network to help customers out since this sudden notice left many concerned about the future and their Lazy Daze.

Also Lazy Daze consignments. (Like to connect sellers with many of the customers that have unfortunately waited on the list for a long time) so all can enjoy Lazy Daze.

I am setting up a new phone line very soon. 909-627-0941 for direct access for Lazy Daze customers along with this email address.

Ldrvtodd@yahoo.com

Most of you know and trust me to do what I can to help in any ways possible. I’ve been offered many lucrative job offers of late but would rather continue to help my many great friends/customers. Hopefully it works out for all.

Venmo, Apple Pay or PayPal now available.

Glad to help and thank you all for the many well wishes and concerns.

Be well.

Thanks
Todd
