I was wondering if anyone uses them in their RV!  We have been considering getting one at home and then put it in the RV when we transfer over.

What is the difference in water usage?  I guess one could always not use it when boon docking however if that is one's regular style of camping, that would matter :)

They use very little water and of course, toilet paper usage is greatly reduced. A win win!!!

Amy, I had LD install an inline fitting with a valve for connecting a bidet in both our 2010 and 2021 rear bath coaches (see photos). The bidet I bought from Amazon (see link below). We do a lot of dry camping and really never noticed the additional water usage as being an issue. Don't get a bidet that uses both hot and cold water because by the time the hot water arrives you will already be finished washing. You will need to plumb into the water line at the toilet for bidet water supply (photo).

We got Mike Coachman’s bidet and what a difference. Substantially less water per flush because of minimal paper.  The black water tank takes longer to fill.  We were boondocking at Rincon Parkway and Jalama and got extra 2 days before dumping.

I once searched for bidets and found that some are just a sprayer hose like the one already on the RV. I just use it for flushing, but have tried it before as a bidet and works just fine  :P

I haven’t been thrilled with the plumbing on the toilet in my MB.  Toilet paper seems to get caught up in the pipe elbows and it takes a lot of water to clear it out.  I saw the bidet that Mike Coachman linked to on Amazon and it seemed like a good idea.

So… I ordered one on Amazon and of course the tee adapter that was supplied wasn’t the right thread size and the braided hose wasn’t long enough. I ended up buying a 1/2 inch male-male-female tee adapter from Amazon for $11 and a PVC ball valve and 4 inch brass riser brass valve and 5 inch brass riser from a nearby Home Depot.  Before and after pictures below.

Being new to this, I wasn’t sure about the alignment of the bidet on the LD toilet, but it appears to have hit the mark.  We’ll have to see about getting used to this new method of sitting on the throne 😉

Edit: The PVC ball valve had a slow leak at the handle so I returned to Home Depot and bought a brass valve and 5 inch brass riser instead.  No leaks now and new picture added 😊

Can’t believe I’m reviving this thread (since we don’t use one), but the new Consumer Reports arrived today and the favorite bidet amongst its readers is the Brondell Simple Spa Thinline. Google that and you’ll find a range of models starting at around $29. There’s even an installation video that (at least on a home toilet) is very easy. — Jon

Still doing things the old-fashioned way so no personal experience.  For those contemplating a change, though, it’s good to know possible negative effects associated with bidets. Here’s the straight poop. 🤭

I have been using bidets since 1992 with no adverse issues. If considering purchasing one I do suggest getting the model that has the spray nozzle rinser feature. Also it is good to clean the nozzle when doing the toilet cleaning. That is all that is needed.

While traveling in the Alps on a motorcycle, I (facetiously) inquired with the hotel front desk why there was such a low drinking fountain in the bathroom.
Her look was priceless and we all had a good laugh.
