Discovered Easy Way to Lift Heavy Objects Onto Roof
As a solo camper I struggled with a way to get a replacement A/C unit onto my roof.  After trying in vain to lift by hand (haha), it occurred to me that I could drape the rope over the rear of the RV.  A/C attached to one end and my car attached to the other and then just drive forward.  My biggest concern was scratching the side as the unit ascended so made sure to put cushions/padding on side that touches RV.  Unlike the picture I actually just draped the rope over the roof rack instead of looping it around (this creates too much friction) and perhaps installing some pulley's would assist in the future.  Anyways, as the unit got to the top, I made sure to stop just before it started to turn horizontal so I could then grab the strap attached to it and pull it the rest of the way by hand (consider it leg day) as it could get stuck behind the roof rack bar and even pull the bar out.  Anyways, worked very well and intend to use this strategy for future solar lifting projects.

Thoughts or improvements to this strategy?

Looks like it worked, and solved your problem, so nice job making due with what you had available.

For anyone with access to an extension ladder, it can be used as an inclined plane to slide a replacement A/C unit up to the roof.

One thought - your roof sealant looks like it could be due for some updating.
