Bay Area tires, sealing, etc
I know what tires I want to put on the rig

MICHELIN AGILIS CROSSCLIMATE - SIZE: LT225/75R16

But don’t know of any reputable tire shops in the South Bay or close to do the install.

Likewise, looking to have someone reseal the roof without having the mothership do it.
(can’t do it myself at the condo nor at the storage location)

Thanks!

Do you not have an 'America's Tire' store near you?   ::)

Dave,

Allen Tire Company did our tire install. They have stores all over the place. Perhaps there is one in your area.

Roof reseal? Kinda early for that. The mothership recommended 7-10 years for me. Our rig was made in 2015. With that, I’m looking at 2025 to get the job done. Probably get Vince to do the work. He’s done all our minor repairs. I trust his work.  If his price is near LD’s price, I’ll go to LD.

Your roof should be fine. Have you noticed some crazy goings on up topside?

I agree that it’s early, the inspector recommended it:

Inspectors are not supposed to provide any form of opinion but there are two things that concern me. Most of my professional time is spent inspecting and repairing roofs and sidewalls. In my opinion, the roof should be resealed in the next 6 months. I/m happy to share my reasoning.  The seller has taken great care of the coach but he did a poor job of resealing. He used the wrong color sealant and it looks wonky. If I was to do a reseal it would charge $3000. As an NRVIA inspector I cannot profit in any way from an inspection inside of a year, so I'm not positioning myself for the work.

The guy does RV roof repairs for a living, so I assume he knows what he is talking about.  Plus I am planning to fill the roof with solar in May, be nice to the roof done prior to that?

There are several, but are they all great, and do they all do RVs?  :-)

Most tire stores can do RV's if the parking lot is large enough; they are typically done outside the bays. Call the store(s) that interest you and ask them what their RV/truck chassis experience is.  My tires were done by Big O is San Luis Obispo.

Call the Mothership about the roof resealing.  I suspect they will advise you to wait. Since I am a fellow 2017 owner, let us know what they say, please!

I figured a lot of them do RV tires, was looking for recommendations on shops that do it well, as I’ve had just ok experiences with tire store chains that folks rave about.

I’ll give them a call and let you know!

Hi  Dave. I think it is too early to get a roof reseal.  The inspector may never have seen a Lazy Daze roof. I can't imagine why your previous owner did anything to the roof. If he over coated the roof seams, he didn't hurt the original Lazy Daze sealing job.  It should be in good shape for the next ten years at least. More with the overcoat, as long as he didn't compromise LD's job.

You have to bear down on the Service Writer, let him know in no uncertain terms that you will not accept a shoddy job and will supervise the work while ongoing and inspect for flaws upon completion. Make his team work for what they are going to charge you. I believe Joan will agree on this one... Tell him all of the new tires MUST have a date code within the last six months.

Oh, one other thing, remove the wheel simulators at home before driving to the service location! This lessens chances of a screw-up and later hassles!   ::)
