LD Shipped in the last 6 months
Looking for feedback from an LD owner that has picked up their new rig from the mothership in the past few months. With all the disruption this pandemic has caused most (if not all) industries, I'm hoping LD hasn't changed the quality of parts/materials used or in workmanship.

I'm hoping my name will be called in the next  4 to 6 months, I will have been on the waiting list two years come January. I so hope nothing has changed when it comes to the quality motorhomes LD is know for. So many businesses have lost good experienced employees; it takes real craftsmen (I include both men and women) to build the level of quality LD is know for.

Any feedback/input would be greatly appreciated.
Have an awesome day!

My advice - don't worry about it.

Their reputation is deserved and I think they have earned the benefit of the doubt.

If not, and you are disappointed, you can immediately sell it for as much as you paid or more.

It's a crazy time - which means someone who takes possession of a new LD has almost no downside risk.

I bought my first new  LD rear bath in 2010 and never had any issues with quality the whole time I had it. That’s why I replaced it with a new 2021 rear bath last year. The high quality is still there and I expect to be able to keep it a long time. There is nothing in the entire motorhome market that even comes close to the LD quality.

Thank you Mike and Rich, I appreciate your input. I just want it to happen soon, it has been a long wait. The sad truth is, I could have purchased an LD back in 2017, but the wife preferred the Phoenix Cruiser (I liked it in the beginning). Now I want to correct my error.

We just took possession of a 2021 MB in November 2021.  I went on the wait list February 2020, and placed my order February 2021.  Delivery was delayed 2 months due to a lot of supply chain issues this past year.

I'm not very concerned with the build quality of the LazyDaze itself - but have heard that the various third party components put into the LD seem to have had  more quality / build issues of late.  So will see...

We had our first longer trip to Fresno, California and back.  The check engine light did come on while coming home, so we're taking it in this weekend for evaluation.  But still seems to be running fine.

At this month’s LD Caravan Club’s GTG, talking with those who communicate with the Mothership, I heard only five 2021 LDs have been delivered. As with so many things today, supply chain issues are to blame.
Delivery times on undelivered LDs could be very long, if ever. I hope the repair side of the business is good, building five units a year is a money losing proposition .

Socalendos, you may want to invest in a code reader for that check engine light. As an alternative, many local auto parts stores are willing to read the codes for you.

Larry, agreed. Going to be hard to stay in business if LD can’t ramp up production.

I don't get LDs method for taking new orders. It will two years in Jan that I've been on this supposed wait list, so it is a bit discouraging to hear that someone got on the wait list around the same time and a year later they place there order (happy for them). I realize there are a lot of delays that are impacting LD, but this mysterious waiting list makes it hard to plan things (selling current RV, knowing the cost, planning for retirement). Come Jan, it is time for another call to LD to see if I can figure out where I stand on this list.

Sorry for venting my frustrations on the forum.

Maybe it’s a chassis difference on a 27 vs 31?

Look on the bright side, at least you have an existing LD while you wait.

I’m 18 months and waiting for my first, a year into retirement, but then when I got on the list in July 2020, my retirement target was still May 2023.

Four years prior to my retirement, I placed our order for a 2015 RB. There was no waiting list. However, there was still a 14 month wait for the completed LD.

It was when LD started getting hammered by orders, that a wait list was created. Even with the ‘list’, the actual wait was similar to ours. Then we had the virus hit and things slowed down to a crawl and soon the list was too full and no one was allowed on the list.

Lazy Daze is a small company and they got hit hard by the backlog on the essentials needed to complete their little gems.

Hopefully, things will return to normal soon and LD can, once again, return to their breakneck speed of production. Good things come to those who wait.

The lack of E450s to build on is the problem, the same issue that has plagued LD since 2008.
I wouldn’t expect big changes, Ford doesn’t appear to have the ability to increase their production and the big RV companies and U-Haul have priority. LD gets the scraps.
If I planned on buying a new LD, I would have a Plan B. Finding a late model LD might be a better option and ‘if’ a new one is ever available, sell the late model. It doesn’t appear used LDs will decrease in value anytime soon.

That’s been my plan for the past six months, barely missed out on a 2015 TK in August.  It’s the only one I’ve seen that is 20 years or less.   If anyone knows of such a unicorn, I am all ears.

We got ours in Feb and as for coach there is no quality issue. We spent 7 of last 10 months in LD and are planning on spending 9 months of 2022 in LD. Our TV and stove in RV are replaced with new units under warranty with no problem. I did talk to factory about these units and they assured me that they get all brand new units and that each unit goes through rigorous testing before installation. My experience may be not normal, will I still buy new LD again, you bet ...

Went on the waiting list for an RB in September of 2019.   Seems I sold my old one a little too soon.  I have doubts about getting this one.  Time for Plan B.     Frank

Well, the wife and I have been on the waiting list since the start of 2020. Finding a used LD in good shape may also be a long wait. However, joining this group is preparing me to have more knowledge and be prepared for issues when I become an LD owner.

We had our names added to the list in August 2019, placed our order August 2020 and picked up our 27 MB in Aug 2021.  So far we have been on 5 different trips and no problems in any way with any thing.  We love the ease of handling and the 2021 E 450 engine has performed flawlessly.  This is our first and last motorhome and after reading about issues with other brands, it feels like we made a great choice with LD. We almost bought a Tiffin Wayfarer and are so thankful we waited for our LD.

We've got on the list end of March 2019. Somehow the mothership skipped over our name on the waiting list, and we lost a few months of waiting time. Figured this out on the routine call to check "are we there yet?"
We placed an order in September 2020 and took delivery end of July 2021.
No major issues this far.
One of the stud extenders for the wheel simulators got a stripped thread - my understanding they are prone to it. Got a new one and a couple of spares from the mothership within a few days.
Driving seat armrest got loose - I have tightened it up.

Overall I love the rig and would buy it again without hesitation.
The new chassis is great - I get over 11mpg on the V8 engine and the driver assist package is nice as well.

Michael,
So did LD admit that they skipped over your name? I find the 'list' (mystery list) to be frustrating. Putting aside all of the pandemic related KAOS and delays, it is odd that I have not way of knowing where I stand on this list; am I third on the list after two years, or am I tenth on the list?

I do call every two or three months, but I don't get a good feeling on where I stand. I don't want to push, I don't want to get overlooked. I get the impression that the 31' I want is not a build they like to do. I realize now I have to deal with delivery issues on chassis which is not fault of LD. I just hope they have been able to keep the staff of craftsmen that have been responsible for building the quality LDs they are know for.

I curious about where I am on the list as well after joining it July 2020.

I touch bases via email every six months, both to see if I am getting close, assuming that Todd would let me know if it’s almost my turn, and effectively verifying I am still on the list.

I called the Mothership - spoke with Todd in May 2020 - I told him we were over a year on the waiting list and asked him how soon should we expect the call. He said he called us earlier, and since we did not answer the phone, he skipped over our name. We have never received the call - I checked for missed calls, and he agreed to revive us on the waiting list. Since then I was calling every 6 weeks to ask where do we stand and what is the ETA. Once we placed an order in September, the ETA for the build was March, and at some point it started to shift by 4 weeks every month, until one day I have received a call telling me I can pick up our beauty in a week.

My understanding is that building a LD involves many suppliers, and many supply chains are disrupted, which is reflected in unpredictable timelines. Still, in my opinion it is so much worth the wait. LD goes down the road so much quieter comparing to the other class C RVs I have rented (both Ford and Sprinter based). And the build quality is so much better than Thor and Winnebago I rented before.

I very much understand your pain and frustration. But at the end it boils down to a simple question: are you willing to wait?
Past performance is not a guarantee of the future, yet most of the members of this forum were able to acquire their dream rig one way or another, so chances are your wait will be rewarded.

I normally don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize.  Sounds like I need to change that until I get the call.

Approaching 27 months on the "waiting list", my chances are not looking good.   I may have been over looked, or others were put in front of me for one reason or another.   I've chosen not to "pester" the Mothership periodically but now I think that may have been a big mistake since the squeaky wheel may get the grease.  Maybe I missed a phone call....   It would seem logical to text or write people rather then call.   In any case, the future is very uncertain.

I would call Todd and ask him any possible phone numbers (cell phones, business numbers. etc.) one might expect a call from when the time comes. Then add all the possible numbers to the Lazy Daze contact in your phone.  If you get the call from any of those numbers, "Lazy Daze" should pop up.

On Android OS if you call a number it is put on a 'OK' to ring/pass list.    Generally also most established business numbers also go thru.
