Fiamma awning end caps November 07, 2021, 07:52:42 pm I have a 2006 MB. Awning end caps have rotted and I need to replace.Awning is F45i.I can find the part number but it appears I will be ordering and having shipped from Europe.Has anyone ordered these things here in the US?If so, where?Also, any instructions for removing old ones?Much thanks

It jammed up a few weeks ago in Utah and after wresling with it for half an hour, we got it rolled up and left it that way until returning home. While cranking it in, you could feet the gear teeth stripping. If we had not been able to roll the fabric all the way in, removing the endcap and then removing the gearbox will allow using a crescent wrench to spin the roller shaft’s square end and manually roll the awning in. Secure it with a zip-tie or two. It beats cutting the fabric off. Our end caps pop off, later models may have a screw inside the enclosure that secures the cap. It should be obvious.Changing the gear box was not difficult, there are several videos and online repair manuals to help guide the DIY crowd.Fiamma USA’s website is not set up for online ordering and there isn’t a sale’s phone number, I guess Fiamma wants customers to find a dealer to order parts. Something has changed, in the past I have placed phone orders several times.Fiamma USA’s site does have parts diagrams, once you figure out what awning you have, try Googling the PN.I found the replacement gearbox at Panther RV, it was delivered within a few days, same price as shown Fiamma’s site.Fiamma is an Italian company, with Europe and Australia being their main customers, the USA is a secondary market and no domestic companies are stocking a wide assortment of replacement parts. Ordering parts from overseas is a little sketchy and expensive.I got lucky finding the gearbox but could not find the expendable plastic shock absorbers (98655-123, 98655-124). We would like to replace the awning’s fabric, I may have one made instead of tryng to get the Fiamma replacement.Not sure what the best approach to finding repair parts is. Anyone with a more positive report or suggestion?Larry
