Re: G.O.A.L. Reply #2 – September 25, 2021, 05:41:24 pm I just don’t get the guy with the 5th wheel at the Dairy Queen…- No matter how hungry you are, DON’T use the drive through in an RV. They have walk up service too ya know.- If you hit something; get out, assess the situation and backup if possible.- If something is preventing you from moving forward, hitting the gas and spinning the tires is probably not a good idea.- I’m thinking alcohol may have played a role in this. They say you can’t fix stupid. With this idiot, why even try.- John 3 Likes

Re: G.O.A.L. Reply #7 – September 26, 2021, 08:25:32 am "And perhaps the most important, People are stupid."This is true about some percentage of people. But I think far more people are simply ignorant (lacking knowledge or awareness in general), and\or, lack the ability to think logically or carefully about a situation, problem or issue before taking action. 2 Likes

Reply #9 – September 26, 2021, 11:30:15 am Our education system has been getting failing grades for at least a generation. We no longer educate, we indoctrinate them into a way of thinking that isn't doing them any good.I remember when I was in school. What I needed was a trade school. The traditional way of teaching left me to learn on my own.Good thing I was capable. We need to reintroduce trade schools as an important tool to give young people a skill.Something other than a liberal arts education that isn't going to get them a job. 4 Likes
Re: G.O.A.L. Reply #10 – September 26, 2021, 12:47:32 pm As far as that Dairy Queen incident, I have to conclude that the driver had to be impaired by recreational drugs. For Jota' The old educational system that disappeared while I was in college, prepared me to work on my LD. Wood shop with the wood framework. Auto shop with the engine and chassis. Electronics shop electrical wiring and components/appliances. Metal shop with welding, use of hand and machine tools, a little metallurgy. Plastic shop! Fiberglas, sealants, waxes, cleaners, etc. In Industrial Arts, both woodworking, glass cutting (stained glass art) and photography all enhanced my ability to earn a living, and work on my cars and motorhomes. I sold my first truck camper for $300, and regret not having a picture of the stained glass window that went with it. It was worth more than the $300! RonB 4 Likes

Ah yes, I can look back with fondness to most of those. It left me with the ability to think for myself and translate it to a useable product with my hands. At one time I could have become a Machinist. I've often wondered why our Trade Unions don't go into 'on-hands' training. But no, they won't even talk to you unless you are already in the "Trades". How many of you have actually fabricated a 'Ram-jet' engine and made it work? 2 Likes

Re: G.O.A.L. Reply #15 – September 28, 2021, 10:32:34 am My observation ...... we old folk (us boomers) got selfish. We,in general, thought we could get something free or better pass the cost to the next generation. If we are not willing to pay for it then we get what we pay for. glen 1 Likes
