scangauge II transmission fluid temp
I know when flat towing, keeping an eye on the transmission fluid temp is something that should be done. That measurement isn't in the standard list of ones available. I think there is a way to program it to be show. Does anyone w/ a Scangauge and a 2001 know the proper settings?

Thanks. That was easy enough. Does anyone know the normal range, and the holy crap don't ever exceed range?

Much respected and admired Ken Fears advised me that 225F - 230F was his comfortable upper limit.  At that point he’d use several techniques to cool down the transmission to include parking for awhile.   I’ve set the alarm on our UltraGauge at 225F.   For what it’s worth, our transmission hasn’t seen that temperature yet.

Every time I came to this LDO neighborhood, I still think of Ken and wonder how he would have responded to some of the Posts.   Oh … 225 degrees F to 230 degrees F.

Hope this helps.

The 2016 E-Series Owner's Manual, page 142, says for vehicles with 5 speed transmission, fluid normal operating temp is 151F to 170F, and for vehicles with 6 speed transmission, fluid normal operating temp is 196F to 215F.
I can't say for certain but I'm assuming all Lazy Daze with V10 engines have 6 speed transmission.

The first year for the V-10 in the E450 was 1997; the V-10 and the transmissions have changed over the years, from 4-speed (2) to 5-speed with tow haul, to 6-speed (the first year for the 6-speed was 2016), to whatever "speed" is current. This guide may be helpful.
