Any changes in recently delivered LDs June 27, 2021, 04:58:38 pm The pandemic has had a devastating impact on so many businesses and industries, I'm worried that Laze Daze will be impacted by changes/delays with the vendors/suppliers they use. I'm also selfishly concerned that LDs quality and workmanship will change (losing long time experienced employees and changes in suppliers they use); I hope to get the call this year and I don't want to see the reasons for wanting to purchase an LD, quality workmanship, quality materials and the uniqueness of LD change. Most importantly, I want LD to survive and continue to deliver the best class C motorhome on the market. Has anyone taken delivery of an LD in the past three or four months? If yes, have you noticed any obvious changes in build quality or materials used? 1 Likes
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #1 – June 27, 2021, 07:25:27 pm We were there three weeks ago and I had a conversation with Steve about what they are dealing with now. First is a big problem with the declining neighborhood. They have had vandalism to the buildings, dump truck size piles of garbage dumped in their parking lot, and thieves running in trying to steal anything they can while the gate was just opened. Add to that, due to Covid rules, they have lost good workers, a big slowdown in getting supplies and chassis’s. Steve is pedaling as fast as he can trying to keep production going and it’s taking a toll on him and Todd who is very busy keeping up with customers needs. They did a very good job doing the warranty work on our coach. Steve said he made no profit on our coach because of production issues. We feel very fortunate to have been able to get our new coach because I didn’t know how long they can hold out but they are trying. I advise to be patient and understanding when working with them. They all still want to provide a top quality coach for their customers. 13 Likes
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #2 – June 27, 2021, 07:56:10 pm Mike, Thanks for the input. I live about 18 miles from LD, that neighborhood has been sketchy for a long time, with the way CA is going I'm not surprised it is getting worse. I hope they can hold on, I'd hate to see a great and unique motorhome manufacturer like LD not make it. In tough time like we are in, it is not easy to make a move to a better area; the cost would be too high I'm sure. I have to believe a company like LD can only build quality motorhomes if they have a dedicated and experienced crew. If they lose good workers it will take some time, training and someone that is on top of the builds to make sure the quality doesn't suffer. I'll call Todd, see if they are open to visitors now; best to discuss this with him in person.

They need additional funding for material cost increases and hiring employees at higher wages to name a few. Look at Phoenix Cruiser and Coach House, both independents, and they approach and go over $200k. Of course, raising prices also helps resale values.Ron
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #7 – July 05, 2021, 11:44:35 am The Coach House Platinum III on the Ford Transit looks OK on the surface, but at $200k+ and no weight* information, it loses any appeal fast for me. * - GVWR is 11,000, but the are no numbers for the "dry" weight.

But people keep buying them! Unbelievable. I suspect most are not even aware of a weight issue. Just pack everything and go!! Ron
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #9 – July 05, 2021, 10:16:27 pm We got on the waiting list in March 2019We placed an order in September 2020 for a mid-bath floor plan.We opted for a driver-assist package, which resulted in extra delay due to chassis availability. Our current estimated delivery timeframe is August 2021, although it's been May of 2021 back in February... 4 Likes
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #10 – August 04, 2021, 12:36:35 pm Hey people, first post here! I am currently an Airstream owner, but my towing days are coming to an end. My parents had a Lazy Daze several decades ago, and always raved about it. I have decided to follow in their footsteps - I am underwhelmed by other Class C’s on the market. Problem: the Lazy Daze line is so long, Todd wouldn’t even take a down payment from me. Good for them, sad for me! Any advice from this community on how to proceed? Thanks!Dave 1 Likes

Good for them, sad for me! Any advice from this community on how to proceed? Don't count on getting a new one anytime soon, if ever. LD has been telling hopeful buyers that there are no spots available on the 'waiting list' for many months, they have enough orders to keep the Factory busy for years or until Steve hangs it up, which is getting closer every year. I suggest joining the hunt for late models rigs, you have a much better chance of fulfilling your LD dreams.Larry 4 Likes
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #12 – August 04, 2021, 03:06:08 pm Sage advice, I’m thinking. Not even a wait list to be on the wait list is not a good scenario!Dave
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #13 – August 05, 2021, 08:13:28 pm Yes this is all very difficult. I am saddened for the State of California. I have been trying to get on the LD waiting list for a year. Time places a lot of changes in our path. Luckily I have my used LD, We are the 5th owners and tenderly looking at improvements one of 3 projects at a time. 1 Likes
Re: Any changes in recently delivered LDs Reply #14 – August 05, 2021, 10:54:37 pm My wife and I waited to get on the wait list until our RV garage was started, 17 months ago. Then, COVID occurred... Construction materials went up to unbelievable prices. We went with masonry/block which may have cost less than wood. In March of this year, we were offered the never seen 2021 Mid-Bath floor model, we declined because the remodel was not finished (Todd could not wait until construction was finished). Now we will just wait.Everything will work out in the end! 1 Likes

LD is our first choice. Plan B is to go with the Coach House Platinum 220 TB if "Steve hangs it up, which is getting closer every year."

Prior to the Transit GVWR change in 2021 models (10360 to 11000) the OCC was around 650 pounds according to CH. Although I cant substantiate, Ive always had the feeling that the Coach House was treat like a "Picnic Boat" for those familiar with boating. Short trips, sports events, many owners even staying in hotels on extended trips....maybe a little Nuvo rica.
