Casita-ing for a while
While waiting for my Scamp to be available in a year, I wanted something used to bum around in, and as I was checking the Fiberglass-4-Sale site on Sat, up popped a nicely preserved 2000 13' Casita Patriot Deluxe, which Casita stopped making in 2013 (I think). It seemed to have my name on it as it was listed by an owner who lived about 8 blocks from me (Louisville, CO) and was towed with a Toyota Sienna van which had the exact same hitch receiver/ball hitch/brake controller set up as I installed on my 2005 60k mileage Sienna LE AWD w/towing package, veritably an LOL (Little Old Lady) van bought from a neighbor's wife. Learning curve just flattened.

The Casita is little, just right for a solo me and has the goodies - wet bath, a/c, awning, heater, holding tanks (small). Now for the next passage (or happy trail) of life.

Good job Chris. In Watchman CG in Zion there is often a Casita group who enjoy their rigs as LD owners do.

Great minds think alike.

I bought a 2017 Casita after selling my 04 MB.....waiting on a clean well maintained newer 24 foot to come available.  I have enjoyed having my tow vehicle to site see in. I am not sure if a.LD 24 will ever come up that fits my needs. Started looking at newer Bigfoot campers, a little more storage and a dry bath, for what the Pandemic has done to prices.of LD's....I can have an almost new one of these....since i already have a well equiped and maintained Pathfinder to tow it with. If not i plan to remove one of the Independence deluxe twin beds and put a single dinete and more storage /counter space. The world is so unpredictable right now.....and i refuse to be upside down in a rv purchase when all this craziness ends.
Good luck with the scamp.....its a light tow at 1900 lbs dry....mini hotel on wheels....those are rare since they stopped making the 13 foot Casita 3 to 6 years back?

Congrats, Chris!  Fortuitous find indeed.  I’m sure the Casita will enable many happy memories.  And, I hope to to see you and the Casita at Morro Bay in March.

One minor word of caution, my high school best friend’s parents had a mishap in their Casita.  They were traveling in New Mexico and encountered strong cross-winds.  The winds knocked over their Casita.  Fortunately, their tow vehicle remained upright and they were not injured.  I guess the lesson was, as with any travel trailer, be careful in the wind….

Another Congratulation's!

We have seen Casita's in every camping situation there is, and on the road.  A true testament of their design and strength.

Good lunch, and happy traveling.

Congrats, Chris, and just in time to register for the fiberglass rally at . . . where else but Lake Casitas!

2021-October 21-25 Fiberglass Rally Lake Casitas, Ca - Casita "Get-Together"...

While I would rather see Chris and his new RV at the MB GTG in March, the Fiberglass GTG is a lot of fun too.

My brother and his wife owned a Casita 16' and now a Escape 17’. We have attend the Fiberglass Trailer Clubs Lake Casita GTG several times with them, there is are more types of fiberglass trailer than one would expect .
It’s a good place to have electrical hookups, it has been hot several times in the past.
We will not be there this year, Utah is calling.

Awesome, Chris! Looks like the stars aligned in your favor and you made the connection to act. This was no coincidence, it was synchronicity calling to you. I'm sure there are a number of wonderful experiences coming your way. Enjoy and I hope to see you out and around.

Thanks and thanks to all who commented. Casita-ing will be temporary but fun. The Lazy Daze blood still runs thick.
