Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler July 11, 2021, 01:31:34 pm Hello all,Anyone have a diagram of the water lines? I am trying to determine where a big leak is coming from. The water line seems to go to the opposite side of the rig than you would think- line goes away from the water tank. I can't find where the leak is and none of the panels come off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, fellow LZers! <3
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #1 – July 11, 2021, 02:37:04 pm The water line is connected to a pressurized water line, look under the sinks and around the water pump. There is no accurate diagram that I know of and every LD floorplan that had an evaporative cooler, its water supply line was located in a different place. Keep hunting.Larry

Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #5 – July 11, 2021, 06:26:05 pm Maybe I missed something, no pictures? And no floorplan. You should know that there are channels (vias) under the floor (actually inside the floor) with plumbing running from side to side. RonB

Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #9 – July 12, 2021, 02:21:40 am In my '85 Twin/King, that water line and petcock were either below the fridge or below the wardrobe, as I recall.
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #10 – July 12, 2021, 04:17:04 am On our 98~MB the water line runs up the right side of our wardrobe tucked in behind the door post. The petcock is located at the base of the of the closet and goes down and ties into the cold water line that feeds the HW heater. The upper line runs into the Pla-Cool in the roof in front of that closet. Our PlaCool onboard pump has failed so we may change the whole unit out for a Turbokool evaporate cooler we have and like. Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #11 – July 12, 2021, 04:22:06 am Hi JLDickson; I have a '99 TK, and your floorplan is probably like mine. I don't have a swamp cooler, so I'll have to guess, that the water line for the swamp cooler is T'ed from the cold water inlet to the water heater on the passenger side under the refrigerator. From there it goes back under the closet. Up through the closet where there should be a valve. Then up to the roof to the swamp cooler inlet. Under the third kitchen drawer is where your water pump is. Pulling out the bottom drawer, you can see the water lines going to a channel under the floor going (and coming from) the water heater on the passenger side. Removing the drawer under the refrigerator will allow you to see the water lines and follow the line to the swamp cooler. RonB edited 7/13 to clarify routing of the water lines in a TK.
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #12 – July 12, 2021, 11:38:30 am I have an 89 22’ and have done a similar repair. It’s in the archives complete with pictures. As others have stated the line starts under the sink. It goes behind the converter and underneath the floor. Then up next to the water heater and then inside the wall of the closet. This is where I found my leak. Then as best I can tell it does a “s” in the ceiling to get to the intake for the cooler. Fortunately, I was able to reuse the existing line in the ceiling. I did replace the line from the closet under the floor to the petcock under the sink. Where is your leak? What else can you share about the issue?

Previous postings in this thread indicate several different water supply locations in various floor plans.Maybe I don't understand your question.Larry 1 Likes
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #17 – July 12, 2021, 09:03:52 pm The shut off valve and the hidden circuit breakers, have a lot in common , they could be most anywhere. There doesn't seem to me to be any consistency on these two items in the older units. Jon
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #18 – July 13, 2021, 11:01:06 am Well the evaporative cooler is still mounted in the ceiling. These systems are very simple and there are only so many ways to run the line. However, the OP needs to fill us in with exactly what is going on. Where is the leak? Etc… it might not even be the line.
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #19 – July 13, 2021, 12:23:38 pm Quote from: pierats - July 13, 2021, 11:01:06 amWell the evaporative cooler is still mounted in the ceiling. These systems are very simple and there are only so many ways to run the line. The evaporative cooler is mounted in different locations in the ceiling depending on floorplan and sometimes options. Most earlier years included the cooler, but not all had the roof air. As for routing of the plumbing, its routing will also depend on window locations, closet location, etc, which varies not only among floorplans, but also year. Ultimately, unless you have the exact model, year, and options as the OP, all you can provide is clues that might help in their search for plumbing, wiring, etc. If your only experience is your own rig, it will be a lot of fun marveling at the differences if you explore a few others...Steve

Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #22 – July 13, 2021, 02:32:38 pm I edited my earlier reply (#11) to clarify where the TK water lines go for the roof swamp cooler. Charles and Donna, your TK is probably built just like mine. The Floorplan hasn't changed much, if at all. I recently viewed a 2019 TK (new owner) and it was the same as mine. No swamp cooler since about '96 I think. RonB 1 Likes
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #23 – July 13, 2021, 08:47:03 pm Water lines will extend under the floor of a TK (and likely other floor plans) equipped with the optional outdoor shower. The indoor access to the outdoor shower was a perfect place to tie my Turbokool into the water source. From there, up the closet, out the fridge vent, under a solar panel, thus very little water line exposed on the roof.Steve 1 Likes
Re: Water line Diagram for LD 89, leak inside from upper swamp cooler Reply #24 – July 14, 2021, 08:55:58 am JL, I have a ‘91. If you don’t have a manual, I will email you a copy I made of mine. I know they’re difficult to find. It reads September 1988 on the front. I checked but there was limited water information. You’ll get much better, detailed and experienced help from this site, but the manual is still fun to have. 😊 -Peggy
