Changing Avatar Picture June 26, 2021, 03:38:44 pm Can someone tell me how to change an existing avatar picture to a new picture? I am not seeing how to do it and could not find anything helpful by doing a search.Paul
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #1 – June 26, 2021, 04:01:51 pm Paul, try this: Click on your forum profile (your current avatar at the top right of the screen or on the left of the message box when you post), click “Modify Profile”, select “Personalize Picture” from the drop- down menu, and select the avatar choice from the menu.
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #2 – June 26, 2021, 05:28:09 pm Thanks Joan but still not working for me. I don't see "Personalize Picture" in the drop down menu under modify profile. Under profile I see where the option is to upload an avatar, but when I try to upload a new picture the existing avatar picture does not go away. I am doing this on a Dell desktop PC.
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #3 – June 26, 2021, 06:28:00 pm OK, let's try again! (I'm using a Windows machine for this.)Click on your current avatar that shows on the upper right of the home page of the forumClick "Modify Profile"Click "Forum Profile" from the drop down menu."Personalized Picture" choice should pop up.There are 5 choices under "Personalized Picture": No avatar, Choose Avatar from Gallery, Specify avatar by URL, Gravatar, and Upload avatar.I just did this process; I put a generic "Gallery" thing as my avatar to test the process. This worked for me, and now I will try to put my original avatar back. Hope it works! Otherwise, maybe Michelle or Chris or someone might be able to help! 1 Likes
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #4 – June 26, 2021, 06:45:23 pm OK, I just changed the test avatar from the generic to a photo of my dog as a puppy. To effect the changes, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page after uploading a photo or an image or whatever and click "Change Profile". 2 Likes
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #5 – June 27, 2021, 11:38:41 am That’s a very cute pup picture, Joan. Being a visual oriented fellow, I’m having a hard time with the change from the Prairie Schooner to the new photo, however.
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #6 – June 27, 2021, 12:11:21 pm The step that most folk forget is the 'Change Profile' at the bottom of the page. Ask me how I know......glen
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #7 – June 27, 2021, 12:41:16 pm "I’m having a hard time with the change from the Prairie Schooner to the new photo"---- The wagon and oxen pic represented my "covered wagon" LD, a nod to the transport used by one set of great great grandparents when they came from IN to CA in 1855.

That’s why I’ll miss the old avatar. My family was of simple means, migrating from the MidWest to Utah and then Wyoming in the mid 1800s like this:http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nWQBsNg51mk/T_u15iIF8JI/AAAAAAAAAa8/M5lzx-gQSwM/s1600/Pioneers-Handcarts.png

Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #11 – June 27, 2021, 05:59:58 pm Thanks Glen. I was not clicking on "Change Profile." When I did that it worked. Picture for my new avatar was taken June 25 at a pullout on Highway 12 and shows Mount Rainier in the background on a clear day.Paul
Re: Changing Avatar Picture Reply #12 – June 27, 2021, 07:34:43 pm "Looks like the Mormon handcarts I saw in an SLC museum."Joan's puppy is cute (as are all young dogs) but I favored the covered wagon she did away with.Hey Larry, instead of a stuffy old museum in SLC you should go out to the Sixth Crossing of the Sweetwater in Freemont Co., Wyo. and see the annual Hand Cart Reenactment that takes place there each year. I had relatives who lived 2½ miles from there back in the late 1890s.
