Hi Romeo;  "What are the "Boils" in the aluminum above"  under and around the cabover passenger side window...  That is caused by water penetration behind the aluminum.  Called 'electrolysis' an electric current through the water dissolves the aluminum. Aluminum chloride mostly.  By the time the corrosion comes out under the paint, a larger amount of aluminum is 'crumbly' . Time consuming to fix; the water leak has to be fixed first from the inside, then restoration of the aluminum, think Bondo, then paint.
If you are retired with a lot of time, and a skill set for 'inside the wall' repairs of rot, it would make a good 'project' motorhome. If you have to pay someone else to fix it, then 'prohibitively expensive' would apply.  RonB
Yeah, Not something I would take on.  Interesting to know how that damage to aluminum happens.  Common thought would be that aluminum never corrodes like on a car.  Obviously not.  Good infromation.

Corrosion can be caused by several things. Poor surface preparation before painting is one.
Another cause seen is is corrsion cause by the interaction of a steel fastener (nail, screw or staple and the outer aluminum sheet metal, cause by either direct contact or being located in an area that has been wet…good, old fashion corrosion.
The dissimilar metals, with a little moisture, become batteries and start consumming the aluminum.

Our 1983 LD had a couple of bubbles in the aluminum, when the corrosion was removed, steel staples were found directly under
both spots. This should be considered a design or manufacturing defect. The two dissimilar metals should have never had a chance of touching.

It’s mighty nice that some of our LD Neighbors post information about LDs that are for sale from all manner of sources.   In addition, the keen observations about various pros and cons has to be useful to less experienced Searchers.

It’s certainly a kind service that must be helpful to those in the Search Mode.  So thanks to those On-Line Helpers.

The rig shows as "clean", but the seller might want to correct the GVWR, listed as 14500 pounds, to the correct GVWR of 14050 pounds. (And include photos of the roof, tire age and condition information, etc.)

"Gross Vehicle Weight: 12,120"

---
The GVWR of a 1998 30' is 14050 pounds; the seller likely means that this particular rig weighs 12,120 pounds as currently loaded. This number is not really relevant (IMO).

When i do a search of the vin....a 30ft rear queen comes up....but the seller is calling it a 2005 26.5 MB......they must not have gotten many calls on it due to it appearing like a.scam....flipper...
They must have traded it in to the dealer that has it now.
The web search shows alot of misc upgrades and repairs that the dealer does not show....when i put the vin in Google this old ad came up....

Nice catch! Great research.  That old ad does say it's a 26' Island bed.  There is a also photo of the schematic. That website has a bunch of dead ads.  The same exact ones have been on there for a year and no one has ever responded back to my emails.   The old ad was for $42K and the new ad is for $39K. The two cities are about 5 hours apart.  Certainly a curiosity.

Just got an email from the "George"....probably a flipper...proceed with caution......email reads...
I am the buyer of David’s vehicle.
He was a stickler for maintenance- being a teacher you know.
It was in his wife’s name (Janet) as you remember.
Currently stored at my Prescott home.
We just bought a pull-behind.
The number he gives 480 231 3571 says George Green. When you do a.search for that number it has multiple phone numbers and addresses. All around Az.
Rarely do people have that many Ph # and address ....scammers and flippers.
Also the name George Green is in the obituraries for one of the addresses listed.....scammer

Here's one been for sale for 17 days. Seller says camped once, burns oil, perfect fixer-upper.
Naw, Hard pass at any price.

1986 Lazy Daze RV - $16,000 (Huson) Montana
1986 Lazy Daze RV - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale
22' long and built on a Chevy van platform. 68,668 miles. All of the cabinetry has been replaced with beautiful oak, new upholstery throughout, custom wood steering wheel, cedar lined closet, electric fireplace, new Winnebago stainless steel sink, 2 burner gas stove and a new convection/microwave oven. The original refrigerator and freezer still works well. We’ve added a TV that uses a rotating antenna and has a DVD player. It needs some love cosmetically in the cockpit. It also needs help with its electrical system that operates the running lights and dashboard. Original handbook and all receipts for renovations are available. Runs well, but burns oil. The carburetor also needs adjustment. We’ve only camped in it one time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Back and forth to Minnesota twice. Cover included. Perfect as a fixer-upper! Asking $17,000 or best offer.

Obviously, people's choices are all over the lot when it comes to repairing, replacing parts, and doing cosmetic upgrades on one's ride, but I seriously do not understand prioritizing "feathers" over "guts". This rig is a 35-year-old oil burner with electrical and carburetion issues (and very possibly other mechanical and systems issues not mentioned), but it has ...

"....cabinetry has been replaced with beautiful oak, new upholstery throughout, custom wood steering wheel, cedar lined closet, electric fireplace, new Winnebago stainless steel sink, 2 burner gas stove and a new convection/microwave oven. ... a TV that uses a rotating antenna and has a DVD player."

YMMV, for sure!  ::)
