Measure from MB sofa platform to window
Hello MB owners,

I’ve got a couple of months before getting my 2021 MB and I have a decision to make.  If someone would please take a measurement on their MB, it would greatly help me make that decision.  I would like to know the distance between the sofa platform (seat cushion removed) and the bottom of the window on the passenger side of the MB.

I’ve had back issues for a long time that requires me to sleep on a good mattress.  Foam toppers don’t work for me.  A standard size twin mattress should easily fit on the passenger side with the sofa pulled out a couple of inches and the seat cushions removed.  It’s just me and the dog in the MB so I’m not concerned about losing the sofa and having the bed made up all the time.  Knowing the usable distance from sofa platform to the window will determine the mattress height and what type of foundation I can use to allow air to circulate under the mattress.

Thank you in advance,
- John

I sometimes put a 8" standard twin foam mattress in that spot (Simmons Medium Gel Memory Foam from Costco).

The 8" mattress tucks nicely under the board that folds in and out to support the backrest when in the couch position.

You have a bit more than 21" from the platform to the bottom of the window trim.

Thank you Rich, that’s exactly what I needed 😊

Concur.  Not sure if this matters but there is also a small shelf area that starts at about 18.5" above the platform.

Greg,

Are you talking about the piece that attaches/hinges the back support to the wall?  I’m thinking of removing the whole back support mechanism because the bed will be made up all the time and there’s no need for the back support.  Hopefully it’s only screwed to the wall and not glued.  If it’s glued, then I’ll probably just remove the hinges and leave the part that’s attached to the wall.

John, that shelf is a great place to set one’s phone and eye glasses. It doesn’t really infringe on the sleeping area for me.

It is very easy to remove since it just screws in. I've been considering putting the shelf part back up but it is easier for me to change the bed sheets without it. Easy to try it with and without. :-)

Thanks Deb, that’s good to know.

Thanks John, It would be nice to have a place to set things on but as Deb mentioned, it may make it harder to change the sheets.  I’ll have to play it by ear and see if the shelf gets in the way.
